Tokyo Game Show 2026: liveblog recap and highlights

Tokyo Game Show 2026 ran at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan from September 17 to 21, 2026, the longest run in the history of the show. The Gadget Pilipinas team of Giancarlo Viterbo, Grant, Luie, and Ram covered it live, entry by entry, from the opening morning of Day 1 to the closing numbers on Monday evening. This recap gathers everything that went up on our Tokyo Game Show 2026 liveblog in one place.

The show lived up to its theme, “The Longest Five Days of Nonstop Play,” until the weather intervened. A typhoon cancelled the final day, and the event still closed with 257,642 visitors.

The longest five days in Tokyo Game Show history

The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) opened Tokyo Game Show 2026 at 10:00 AM on September 17 at Makuhari Messe. The show was scheduled to run until Monday, September 21, a national holiday in Japan, which made it the longest run in the event’s history. We flagged the plan weeks earlier, and the team was on the ground from the opening morning.

Our Day 1 video set the tone for the week: five days of floor walks, booth visits, and demos, with the Philippine media contingent out in force alongside us.

Day 2 drew 52,545 visitors

The attendance story arrived early. By Day 2, on September 18, the show had already drawn 52,545 visitors, and the queue of attendees made the scale of TGS 2026 clear.

Imagine a full stadium. Now place another full stadium beside it, then another, then another, then half of a fifth. That is about 52,545 people.

Handhelds and laptops on the show floor

Gaming handhelds were the running theme of our floor time. At the MSI booth, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ was the device we wanted the most time with, and we are still hoping MSI brings it to the Philippines soon. MSI also gave the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ Vincent Van Gogh Edition its Tokyo Game Show 2026 debut.

Over at the ASUS ROG booth, we went from the ROG Xbox Ally X20 all the way to the ROG Flow Z13, both of which we covered on video.

Booth finds: Secretlab, AORUS GIGABYTE, and one PC in a box

A few booths earned a longer stop. Secretlab brought the Titan Evo Zinogre Edition to the show floor, a Monster Hunter edition of its Titan Evo chair.

GIGABYTE’s AORUS also showed the “Kamitaka Rin” (神鷹凛) Collaboration PC, a special-edition BTO desktop gaming PC created in partnership with AORUS and the Japanese PC retailer Ark. Elsewhere on the floor, one booth posed a question we could not resist: “Your AI in a box!?”

team17: two playable co-op demos

team17 brought two playable co-op titles to Makuhari Messe: What Goes Up and Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms, both running demos on the show floor from September 17 to 21. The Prime Minister’s Crest: Path to Power

WAWE LLC brought The Prime Minister’s Crest: Path to Power to Tokyo Game Show 2026, a pixel-art political simulation text adventure with a controller in your hands. Visitors could play an in-development demo at booth N8-03. We have the full details in our write-up on the game.

The gear that carried our coverage

A typhoon ended the show early

Tokyo Game Show 2026 was built to run five days, and it ran four. The final day, September 21, was cancelled after Typhoon No. 25 forced CESA to call off the fifth day, cutting the show short one day before it was supposed to close. The final tally still landed at 257,642 visitors.
