Gadget Pilipinas is a technology news and reviews publication for Filipino readers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It applies to gadgetpilipinas.net and to the Gadget Pilipinas pages and channels we operate on social media.
We have tried to write this in plain language. Where a term has a specific meaning under Philippine law, we explain it.
Who we are
This website is owned and operated by Blip Media Digital Marketing Consultancy Inc., a company registered in the Philippines, through its flagship media brand Gadget Pilipinas.
Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, Blip Media acts as the Personal Information Controller for the data described in this policy. That means we decide why your data is collected and how it is used, and we are accountable for it.
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact our Data Protection Officer:
- Data Protection Officer, Blip Media Digital Marketing Consultancy Inc.
- Email: compliance@gadgetpilipinas.net

What we collect, and why
We keep this deliberately narrow. We do not ask you for more than a purpose requires.
Information you give us
- Email address and name, if you write to us through our contact form, email us directly, or subscribe to our newsletter. Purpose: to answer you, and to send you the updates you asked for.
- Content of your message, and any files you attach. Purpose: to read, investigate, and reply.
- Details you provide in a press release, pitch, review request, or accreditation application, such as your name, company, job title, and contact details. Purpose: to evaluate and act on your request, and to keep in touch about coverage.
- Information you give us as a sponsor, advertiser, or partner, such as billing contacts and business details. Purpose: to prepare campaign documentation and fulfill our contract with you.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read and how visitors reach them. This includes a truncated or partial IP address, device and browser type, approximate location at city or region level, the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site or search engine that referred you. We use this in aggregate to decide what to cover and how to make the site faster. It is a single article audience. We do not use it to build advertising profiles about you across other websites.
- Technical and security data. Our hosting, server, and content delivery systems record standard request logs, including IP address, timestamps, and requested URLs, to keep the site online and to detect and block abuse such as scraping attacks and malicious traffic. We keep these logs only as long as they are useful for that purpose.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See the next section.
What we do not collect
We want to be as clear about this as we are about what we do collect. At the time of writing:
- We do not require an account, login, or password to read Gadget Pilipinas, and we do not collect payment or financial information from readers.
- We do not run reader comment sections on our articles, so we do not collect the names or email addresses that comments would otherwise require.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers in a form that identifies you.
- We do not use your data to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device so it can recognise your browser. We use them in three ways.
- Strictly necessary. These keep the site working and secure, for example remembering your display preference and protecting forms from abuse. The site cannot function properly without them.
- Analytics. Google Analytics cookies let us count visits and see how articles are read. Where we can configure this, we prefer aggregated measurement over granular tracking. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Embedded content. Some articles include YouTube videos, or embedded posts from social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or X. When that content loads, the platform may set its own cookies or collect data under its own privacy policy. We do not control those cookies.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, and only as far as each one needs to fulfil its function.
- Hosting and content delivery. Our site is hosted by Hostinger and delivered through Bunny.net content delivery network. These providers process technical data such as IP addresses and request logs on our instructions, and store data on servers including servers outside the Philippines.
- Analytics. Google processes analytics data through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
- Search and distribution tools. Where our content is published or indexed, providers such as Google process URLs and metadata, not reader personal data.
- Email. If you write to us, your message is handled through our business email provider.
- Social platforms. If you interact with our official pages or accounts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube, that platform processes your data under its own privacy policy, and we see only what the platform shows us, such as your public profile and message.
- Sponsors and partners. If you contact us about advertising or sponsorship, we share the business contact details needed to prepare and deliver that campaign. We do not hand reader data to sponsors.
We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, for example in response to a lawful order from a court or a government agency, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our legal rights or the safety of others. If we ever sell or restructure the business, reader data may transfer as part of that transaction, and this policy would continue to apply until updated.
Where your data goes
Some of our service providers operate servers outside the Philippines, including in the United States, the European Union, and the Asia-Pacific region. When we transfer personal data outside the Philippines, we rely on the safeguards provided under the Data Privacy Act, including contractual protections required of our service providers. Our hosting and content delivery providers in particular operate globally, meaning a request from a Philippine reader may be served from a data centre in another country.
How long we keep it
- Contact and email correspondence: up to three years from our last exchange, so we can follow up on ongoing requests and defend against claims.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, plus a short period to record that you did.
- Press, review, and accreditation records: for as long as we have an active relationship, and up to five years afterwards for coverage and compliance records.
- Sponsorship and advertiser records: as long as the contract requires and as tax, accounting, and audit law requires.
- Analytics data: according to our analytics configuration, and in aggregate reports retained indefinitely because they no longer identify you.
- Server and security logs: a short rolling period, unless we need to keep a specific record to investigate an attack or a legal matter.
How we protect it
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, access controls limiting staff access to what their role requires, and working with established hosting and delivery providers that maintain their own security programmes.
No system is perfectly secure. If a personal data breach affects your data and meets the threshold under the law, we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission as required. If you believe your data has been compromised through us, contact our Data Protection Officer immediately.
Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Be informed whether personal data relating to you has been or is being processed.
- Object to the processing of your personal data, including for direct marketing.
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure or blocking of data, where the law permits.
- Damages for a violation of your rights.
- Data portability, in a commonly used electronic format.
- Lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where our processing is based on consent. Withdrawing it does not affect processing already carried out.
To exercise any of these, email our Data Protection Officer at compliance@gadgetpilipinas.net. Tell us what you want to access, correct, or delete, and give us enough detail to find it. We will confirm receipt and respond within the period required by the Data Privacy Act and National Privacy Commission issuances. We may ask for proof of identity before acting, so we do not disclose your data to someone else. There is no fee for a reasonable request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph.
Children
Gadget Pilipinas publishes technology news intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you are under 18, please do not send us personal data through our forms or email. If we learn we have collected a minor’s personal data without appropriate consent, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has given us personal data may contact our Data Protection Officer to have it removed.
Links to other websites
Our articles link to other websites, including government agencies, manufacturers, and other publications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and this policy does not cover them. Check the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Advertising and sponsorship
Gadget Pilipinas earns revenue from advertising, sponsored content, and affiliate links. Sponsored articles are labelled, and a sponsorship does not give a brand access to reader personal data. If we ever adopt advertising technology that tracks you across other websites, we will disclose it here and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices, our service providers, or the law change. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and we will list the substantive changes below so you can see what moved. Continuing to use Gadget Pilipinas after an update means you accept the revised policy.
