Tokyo Game Show 2026 is over: 257,642 visitors, with the last day cancelled by a typhoon. We walked it with two HONOR devices. The HONOR Robot Phone was our video camera, and the HONOR Magic V6 was the foldable we carried for stills. Most of what went up on our social channels came off these two.
The Gimbal Is Why the Video Held Up
The Robot Phone is the first phone with a mechanical gimbal built into the body: a 4-DoF Titanium Agile Gimbal, 65 percent smaller than a mainstream gimbal and 200 percent stronger, on a 2.6g titanium motor that turns up to 360 degrees per second.
That is the part you feel while shooting. Walking b-roll through crowded halls needed no separate stabilizer or second pair of hands. The movement modes cover the rest: Tilt Lock for level walking shots, FPV and FPV Vertical for the reel look, and AI SpinShot for 90 and 180 degree pans. Our Secretlab booth reel was shot vertical, one-handed, between crowds.
AI subject tracking earned its keep too. Double-tap a face and the gimbal locks on; when someone steps between you and the subject, it re-identifies and picks the shot back up. Cosplayers posing in a moving crowd are exactly that problem, and it solved most of it, the case we made before the trip.
ARRI LogC3 on the HONOR Robot Phone
The camera stack is a 200MP gimbal main camera on a 1/1.28-inch sensor at f/1.6, a 200MP periscope telephoto on a 1/1.4-inch sensor with 2.7x zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide at 122 degrees.
In ARRI CINEMA mode it records 10-bit ARRI LogC3 with ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks previewed live. The pipeline works in 14-bit 4:4:4 and outputs 10-bit 4:2:2, with up to 14 stops of dynamic range and AI noise reduction HONOR claims lifts video SNR by 8 dB. In practice, footage from halls mixing bright booth screens with dark aisles graded without falling apart, and the ARRI LUTs went into DaVinci Resolve directly.
What the Magic V6 handled
The Magic V6 took the stills. Its AI Falcon camera system pairs a 50MP main sensor with a 64MP periscope telephoto on a 1/2-inch sensor with CIPA 6.5-stop stabilisation, plus a 50MP ultra-wide. Booth signage we could not walk up to, cosplay portraits, and most floor shots we posted came off this camera, the one we flagged as the foldable camera to watch.
Two details made it the right second device. Shooting one-handed on the cover screen and reviewing on the 7.95-inch inner display meant checking focus and framing without a laptop, and at 8.75mm folded and 219g with IP68 and IP69 ratings it survived the wet days.
These phones are simply amazing for events like TGS
A gimbal inside the phone removes the shake tax from event video. Our TGS kit was lighter than any show we have covered, and the reel came out of it. The honest caveat: this is still a small sensor, fast subjects in dark halls remain the hard case, and no stabiliser fixes a subject who will not hold still.
