Square Enix has officially announced that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027. The announcement came during a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, where the publisher unveiled a new release date reveal trailer along with extended combat and exploration gameplay footage.

As the concluding chapter of one of the most ambitious video game projects ever undertaken, this release wraps up the story that began with the Final Fantasy VII Remake project. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox PC platform.
New Gameplay Systems and World Exploration
The newly released footage for Final Fantasy VII Revelation highlights an expansive, open version of the game’s world, explorable via the iconic Highwind airship. Players will also be accompanied by Piko, a Chocobo companion that develops new traversal and combat skills as the story progresses. Combat has also been refined through the introduction of the FITS system, which grants characters specialized roles such as Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner, adding new abilities and power progression. New playable characters Cid and Vincent were shown using the Knight and Summoner FITS roles, respectively.
Additional features include the ability to freely swap active characters and party composition at any point while exploring, a new grappling gun for scaling rooftops and navigating terrain quickly, and a system allowing players to choose which party members undertake specific quests, which in turn affects how certain story events unfold.
