BlizzCon 2026 kicked off today from Anaheim, California, with a packed Opening Ceremony that delivered major announcements across the Warcraft universe, including a brand-new Classic+ experience, the next chapter in the Worldsoul Saga, and a surprise Warcraft III campaign release.

World of Warcraft: Forever Announced, Launching November 4

The biggest surprise of the show was World of Warcraft: Forever, a new re-envisioning of the classic MMORPG that launches on November 4, 2026. Beta access begins September 17. Built as a permanent home alongside Modern and Classic WoW, Forever invites players into a reimagined original Azeroth with new zones, over 1,000 new quests, and a redesigned leveling journey to 60.

Three new zones include Mount Hyjal, Zephras Isle, and the Riverglades. Nine new dungeons and two new 10-20 player raids await. A new battleground takes place on Darkspear Islands. The engine features upgraded visuals with new lighting, global illumination, volumetric particle effects, a new water renderer, and real-time shadows.

A new neutral playable elven race called the Skyborne arrives alongside expanded race and class combinations including Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman. Access to the Skyborne race comes as part of the optional upgrade editions available for pre-purchase now on the Battle.net Shop. A WoW subscription or game time grants access to the base Forever experience.

WoW Midnight: Eclipse Update Revealed

The next major content update for Midnight, Eclipse, brings players face-to-face with Xal’atath as she reaches for the Worldsoul. The events of Eclipse will unfold in the worldcore, setting the stage for the Worldsoul Saga’s final chapter in The Last Titan, which is targeting a 2027 release.

Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom Launches Now

For the first time in more than two decades, a brand-new campaign has arrived for Warcraft III: Reforged. Forsaken Kingdom follows the fall of Lordaeron and its transformation into the Undercity, introducing new faces alongside familiar figures like Sylvanas. The campaign includes a prologue, three story chapters, a neutral Forsaken Paladin hero unit, and new story content bridging the fall of Lordaeron with the rise of a new era in Azeroth. It is available now on the Battle.net Shop.
