BlizzCon 2026 delivered the biggest Diablo V BlizzCon 2026 announcements in franchise history. From the reveal of Diablo V to a Netflix animated series and the return of the Amazon class, here is everything Blizzard announced for the Diablo universe during this year’s Opening Ceremony.

Diablo V: Coming Spring 2029 — A Fallen Sanctuary
The biggest surprise of BlizzCon 2026 was the official reveal of Diablo V, the next mainline entry in the hack-and-slash action RPG franchise. Blizzard confirmed the game is in development and targeting a Spring 2029 release.
For the first time in the series’ 30-year history, players will enter a Sanctuary that has already fallen. The heroes are gone, and Diablo has won. The central question driving the narrative: “What must you become when the world has already fallen?”
During the Diablo V: Forging the Next Era panel, the development team unveiled deeper details. Players take on the role of the Heir to Westmarch, traveling through a Sanctuary being actively reshaped by Diablo himself. The world features a procedural landscape where terrain, points of interest, monsters, and rewards can change each time you revisit an area.
First Three Diablo V Classes Revealed
Blizzard confirmed Diablo V will launch with the largest class roster in franchise history. The first three classes revealed at BlizzCon 2026 are:
- Demon Hunter — The fan-favorite returns, stalking the forces of Hell with twin crossbows, striking from the shadows and leaping across the battlefield to annihilate prey.
- Monk — Bringing martial perfection back to Sanctuary, battering demons with fists and calling down holy power to smite those in their path.
- Plague Knight — An entirely new class described as the embodiment of walking death, spreading disease and pestilence across the battlefield.

Diablo Animated Series Confirmed for Netflix
Blizzard confirmed that a Diablo animated series is in development with Netflix. Blizzard president Johanna Faries made the announcement, emphasizing the company’s identity as “Blizzard Entertainment, not Blizzard Games.” The series brings Sanctuary’s darkness to a new screen, though no showrunner, animation studio, or release window has been announced. Faries also hinted that Overwatch and Warcraft projects are being discussed, signaling a broader media push under Microsoft’s ownership.

The Amazon Returns to Diablo IV in 2027
The Amazon is coming to Diablo IV in the first half of 2027. Hailing from the island of Skovos (first revealed in Lord of Hatred), the class returns from Diablo II with four gameplay archetypes: Champion, Skirmisher, Ranger, and Commander. The Amazon can wield bows and javelins — the javelin introduces an entirely new weapon type to Diablo IV.

Season of Hell’s Legacy — 30th Anniversary Celebration
Season of Hell’s Legacy begins rolling out on September 15, marking Diablo’s 30th anniversary. The season is a playable tribute to the franchise’s most iconic characters, foes, locations, and loot. The lost soul of Deckard Cain returns to guide players through an epic journey to confront the Prime Evils — Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo himself. Players can reclaim splinters of the Prime Evils’ souls to assume a portion of their power.
More than 130 million players worldwide have entered Sanctuary across the Diablo franchise.

Diablo IV Lands on Nintendo Switch 2
The Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15. The bundle includes the base game, Vessel of Hatred expansion, and Lord of Hatred expansion — the full Diablo IV experience on Nintendo’s newest console, playable with Joy-Con 2 controllers.
