Rakuten Viber has just announced that it is rolling out in-app eSIMs, making it easier to stay connected while you travel.
Rakuten Viber – In-App eSIMs
From the Viber app, you can get instant mobile data abroad. All you have to do is choose a travel plan, pay, and then install and activate your eSIM in minutes.
The company revealed that there are digital plans in over 150 countries directly from the app.
You can get an eSIM by:
- Open Viber on your phone
- Tap the More (three dots) button
- Tap on eSIM
- Select the country you are traveling to and choose a data plan
- Tap on Buy for [amount] to open the payment screen
- Choose your preferred payment method
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the payment
The payment methods supported are Google Pay, Apple Pay, and credit or debit card.
You can also add more data via the app as well, without needing a new eSIM. However, you can only add data for the same country as the original eSIM.
Do note that you must activate the eSIM within 90 days from the time of your purchase.
