More than a month with the Galaxy Z Fold8

I have been using the Galaxy Z Fold8 for almost a month now, and it has been hard to put down. That is not the usual honeymoon phase talking. This is the Fold that finally feels like it was designed around how people actually use a folding phone, not around what a folding phone should look like on paper.

The Content Consumer Gear

The biggest change is the inner display. Samsung moved the Fold8 to a 7.6-inch panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is noticeably wider than the tall, narrow screens of previous Folds. The difference shows up immediately in reading. One of the first things I did after setting the phone up was download Play Books and pull up my favorite Spider-Man comics. On older Fold screens, comic pages meant a lot of pinching and zooming. On the Fold8, the pages fit the display naturally, and the 120Hz AMOLED panel makes the colors pop the way they were meant to.

Movies are just as good, and the cover display deserves real credit here. The 5.5-inch cover screen is no longer just a notification checker. I found myself watching full shows on it, holding the phone closed like a normal slab. When I want the bigger canvas, I open it up and the 7.6-inch inner display takes over, with a 4:3 ratio that fills far more of your field of view than the old tall screens ever did. Samsung rates the panel at up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, and it holds up outdoors without much effort.

Flagship Performance

Performance has been a nonissue all month. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy handles everything I throw at it, from multitasking with several apps open to longer gaming sessions. The Fold8 ships with Android 17, and it comes with 12GB of RAM on the base 256GB model and 16GB on the 1TB version. I have not hit a single stutter. It also helps that this is Samsung’s lightest Fold yet at just 201 grams. After a month, the weight no longer registers as a compromise. It just feels like a phone.

The reception has been overwhelmingly positive so far. Every time I show the Fold8 to someone, the reaction follows the same arc: curiosity about the hinge, surprise at how light it is, then a long pause once they start reading on the inner screen. People do not ask about specs first. They ask when they can buy one.

Features Galore

The battery is a 4,800mAh cell, and with the kind of use I described, I still end most days with enough left over that I do not think about chargers before bed. The IP48 rating means it handles splashes, and the hinge has held up without creak or looseness through hundreds of opens. The cameras are the dependable flagship setup Samsung has been refining for years; they were never the question on a Fold. The screen is the story, and the Fold8 tells it better than any Fold before it.

Price and Availability Matter

In the Philippines, the Fold8 starts at PHP 109,990 for the 256GB model, with 512GB and 1TB options going up from there. That is a serious price, and it is the one honest reason to hesitate. But for anyone who has been waiting for a foldable that reads, watches, and works like this, the Fold8 is the one to beat.

You can buy one at Samsung Stores and authorized Samsung stores at SM Cyberzone. The staff can walk you through the variants and trade-in options, which is worth doing, because the Fold8 is the kind of device you want to feel in your hand before you decide.

And that is the point of the whole exercise. The best tech is the tech you can actually get your hands on, try out, and fall for in a store. That is what Cyberzone is for, and it is why we keep coming back. Tech we like, zone we love. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is exactly that.
