HONOR Magic V6 vs 1-Ton Aircraft? Wild!
HONOR Philippines put its upcoming flagship foldable, the HONOR Magic V6, through one of its most extreme public durability demonstrations yet (having the device pulled by an aircraft weighing approximately one ton) as the brand ramps up hype ahead of the phone’s Philippine debut.
The Aircraft-Pull Stunt
In a controlled test staged in Pampanga, HONOR anchored the Magic V6 to a one-ton aircraft and had it tow the plane, subjecting the foldable’s chassis and hinge to extreme tensile force. The stunt is meant to showcase the strength of the device’s build, and it lines up with specs HONOR has already detailed publicly: the Magic V6 uses a “Super Steel” hinge rated at roughly 2,800 megapascals of tensile strength, among the toughest hinge structures HONOR has fielded in a foldable to date.
HONOR didn’t stop there. The brand also strapped the Magic V6 into a lat pulldown machine, turning a gym staple into an impromptu durability rig, and later dunked the phone into a swimming pool to demonstrate water resistance.
That underwater test tracks with the Magic V6’s official IP68 and IP69 ratings, which mean the phone can withstand both submersion in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes and high-pressure water jets, which is a notable upgrade for a foldable form factor, where dust and moisture ingress around the hinge has historically been a weak point.
What’s Under the Hood
Beyond the stunts, HONOR is positioning the Magic V6 as a flagship-grade device wrapped in an unusually slim body. According to HONOR’s global specs and independent reviews, the phone features:
- A 7.95-inch foldable LTPO2 AMOLED inner display with 120Hz refresh rate, 5,000 nits peak brightness, and an anti-reflective coating that reduces glare, paired with a 6.52-inch AMOLED cover screen.
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, configurable up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
- A 6,660mAh battery with 80W wired and 66W wireless charging — among the largest batteries in a foldable this thin.
- A body that folds to just 8.75mm and unfolds to 4.0mm, weighing 219g, protected by Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield glass on the cover screen and a “Magic Diamond” ultra-thin glass layer on the inner display.
- A 50MP main camera using a Sony IMX906 sensor with f/1.6 aperture and OIS.

HONOR frames the durability spectacle as proof that the Magic V6’s “sophisticated design” doesn’t come at the cost of “uncompromising durability,” emphasizing that the phone combines its large foldable display, flagship performance, AI features, high-resolution cameras, and battery capacity in a notably slim chassis.

HONOR Philippines has confirmed the Magic V6 will officially launch in the country on August 18, teasing the event with the tagline “Unfold the Real Magic” and promising a closer look at the device’s durability, battery life, performance, and AI capabilities.
