PLDT’s efforts in deploying fiber-powered facilities seem to be paying off, as the latest Speedtest index from Ookla shows that the country’s download speeds have increased by 50% fro 10.16Mbps to 15.67Mbps, while upload speeds also climbed from 7.28Mbps to 13.53Mbps.

[su_quote cite=”Oscar A. Reyes, Jr., PLDT SVP and Head of Consumer Business Market Development”]These results reflect the growing impact of our ongoing efforts to provide fiber-powered broadband services to more customers in more areas of the country.[/su_quote]

With the company’s on-going network modernization, PLDT expects to reach more cosnumers, as it expands its fiber coverage by about 30%. It will also double its fiber and hybrid broadband capacity within the next two years, and virtually all of its 1.3M DSL subscribers are expected to be able to enjoy Fibr-fast Internet by 2019.

[su_quote]Ookla’s latest report reinforces our gains and successes in bringing high-speed internet to more Filipinos nationwide. In the past year, we’ve strengthened our leadership in the fixed broadband business and we look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to invest in network infrastructure that will benefit more Filipino homes. The accelerated roll-out also prompted more customers to avail of PLDT Home’s other products and services such as Fam Cam, Fam Zone, Smart Watch, and the Roku-powered TVolution.
