TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 closed its four-day on-site run at Makuhari Messe with 257,642 visitors, after organizer CESA called off the fifth and final day as Typhoon No. 25 approached Japan.
The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), chaired by Haruhiro Tsujimoto, said the September 21 event day at Makuhari Messe was cancelled entirely to put the safety of visitors, exhibitors, and everyone travelling to and from the venue first. The 30th-anniversary show had been set to run for five days, from September 17 to September 21.
The four days that pushed through, September 17 to September 20 at Makuhari Messe and TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall, covered Business Days on Thursday and Friday and Public Days over the weekend.
A record exhibitor line-up for the 30th edition
Under the theme “The Longest Ever, Five Days Full of Play,” Tokyo Game Show 2026 gathered 1,138 companies and organizations from 53 countries and regions, beating last year’s record. New titles for home consoles, smart devices, PCs, and VR were shown on the floor, along with related products and services, cutting-edge solutions, and limited-edition merchandise.
Business talks stayed busy as well. CESA counted a record 3,673 meetings through the TGS Business Matching System, while 25 official programs streamed on the show’s YouTube, X, and Twitch accounts and on platforms such as Niconico, with partner streams carried by DouYu and bilibili for China and IGN for Europe and North America.

Programs Go Online as the Venue Goes Dark
With the venue closed on September 21, CESA kept the day’s official program running without an audience. Red Bull Revenge opened the slate from 10:30 to 13:10 with an invitation-only Street Fighter 6 exhibition, where eight top players replay rivalries from the competitive scene’s history. The Ending Stage from 15:00 to 15:30 then wrapped the show.
CESA said some exhibitors are also running their own online streams, and that schedules, details, and archives including the streamed programs will be published on the official TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 website as they become available.
TGS 2027 Dates Locked In
Next year’s edition is scheduled for September 16 to September 20, 2027, with Makuhari Messe again planned as the on-site venue. CESA has not detailed anything beyond those dates.
