Apple has officially broken its silence regarding reports of cracked inner displays on its newly launched USD 1,999 iPhone Duo.
Apple iPhone Duo Screen Cracking Issues
Just days after the device hit the market, users began reporting their screens cracking near the hinge, with one user claiming catastrophic damage after fewer than 20 folds. In a recent statement, Apple acknowledged the defect but maintained that only a “small number” of units are affected. The tech giant advised any users experiencing display issues to contact AppleCare immediately for a replacement.
The structural integrity of the Duo has also faced scrutiny from independent reviewers. A bend test by popular tech channel JerryRigEverything left the inner display with permanent green lines, while an iFixit teardown identified a potential stress point in the hinge that may contribute to the unexpected screen failures.

While the company is far from the first manufacturer to face first-generation foldable growing pains, the timing of the defect is particularly awkward. In a recent interview, the company’s CEO John Ternus criticized early Android foldables as being “kind of cheap and crappy”, a comment that has now opened the door for competitor Samsung to publicly mock Apple’s current predicament.
Despite the controversy, the company remains optimistic, noting that overall early feedback for the iPhone Duo has been “incredibly positive.” The company highlighted the swift action of developers who are already updating apps to take advantage of the unique form factor.

The brand has yet to confirm the exact engineering cause of the cracks or announce any manufacturing adjustments. For more Apple and other tech news, click HERE.
