Deepdive of TCL C7L SQD Mini LED TV for the Media
TCL Philippines hosted tech and lifestyle media for a hands-on session on its latest display technology on Thursday, with the new TCL C7L SQD Mini LED TV leading the demonstration.
Held at TCL’s headquarters in Ermita, Manila, the media roundtable gave journalists a side-by-side look at SQD Mini LED against competing display formats, an exercise designed to cut through the overlapping jargon that has made TV shopping more confusing than it needs to be. TCL’s position: the technology category on a spec sheet tells only part of the story, and the C7L was set up as the live proof point.
The C7L is the first TV in the Philippines to showcase TCL’s SQD Mini LED platform, short for Super-QD Mini LED. The set’s Precise Dimming Series pairs high-efficiency light-emitting chips with condensed micro-lenses and an all-domain halo control system, which TCL says eliminates the light bleed that can appear around bright objects on dark scenes. The panel itself is a high-contrast CSOT HVA 2.0 unit, driven by TCL’s Light and Shadow Control Algorithm.
That combination targets the two things enthusiasts look for first in a premium TV: deep blacks with controlled highlights, and color accuracy. TCL layers its Super QLED quantum-dot technology with an Ultra Color Filter Panel for a wider, more precise color gamut, while the new high-efficiency light chip improves peak brightness and energy efficiency at the same time. Gamers get the same treatment in dark scenes, where shadow detail stays visible without washing out bright areas. Audio duty falls to a system co-engineered with Bang & Olufsen.
Strong run for TCL in the Philippine market
The roundtable follows a strong run for TCL in the Philippine market. TRS Research’s 2025 Annual Cumulative Market Share Report named TCL the country’s No. 1 panel TV brand for the third consecutive year, based on nationwide brick-and-mortar retail performance. Globally, Omdia data cited by TCL puts the company first in 75-inch-and-above TV and Mini LED TV shipments for 2025, and the X11L, the world’s first SQD Mini LED flagship, took home the Innovative Display Technology Gold Award at the Global Top Brands ceremony during CES 2026.
