MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Offers Armv9 CPU Cores and Generative AI Capabilities

MediaTek expanded its Dimensity 8000 series with the introduction of the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 SoC. This is a successor to the Dimensity 8200 and brings Armv9 CPU cores and generative AI capabilities, to name a few updates.

The Dimensity 8300 is built on the second-generation 4nm process. It comes with four Cortex-A715 performance cores that are clocked at up to 3.35GHz along with four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores running at up to 2.2GHz.

These are all Armv9 cores and are said to offer up to a 20% boost in CPU performance and 30% peak gains in efficiency compared to its predecessor.

The new chipset boasts an Arm Mali-G615 MC6 GPU offering 60% better performance and up to 55% improved power efficiency compared to its predecessor. It also supports quad-channel LPDDR5X RAM at 8533Mbps speeds and UFS 4.0 storage with Multi-Circular Queue (MCQ) support.

Moreover, the new APU 780 offers Generative AI capabilities with stable diffusion and support for LLM.

  • Support of up to 320MP camera sensors
  • Support for recording of 4K video at 60fps
  • Displays at up to 180Hz FHD+ or 120Hz WQHD+
  • HDR10+ adaptive support
  • 4K AV1 media decoding
  • MediaTek Adaptive Game Technology 2.0
  • integrated 5G modem with support for dual-mode 5G and up to 5.17Gbps downlink (sub-6GHz networks)
  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • Bluetooth 5.4

When can we expect a device powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300?

MediaTek revealed that we can expect to see the Dimensity 8300 powering smartphones in the global market before the end of 2023.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi K70E will be powered by the new chipset and will arrive later this month.
