MediaTek has just unveiled the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 which slots itself between the Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 8100.

The Dimensity 8050 is built on the TSMC 6nm process. The new chipset has a prime Cortex-A78 that runs at up to 3GHz, three Cortex-A78 performance cores at up to 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. It is also equipped with a 9-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU.

It supports up to 16GB of DDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The onboard ISP supports cameras of up to 200MP and 4K video recording. Meanwhile, as far as the display goes, it can handle up to 2520×1080 panels with a maximum refresh rate of 168Hz. The chipset also has a 5G modem with 2CC-CA that can also combine low and mid-band advantages for higher speeds.

The recently announced Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G and Camon 20 Premier 5G are among the first devices powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8050. It wasn’t revealed
