ChatGPT, after being briefly banned in Italy. is now facing a possible ban in Germany as alleged data protection issues are being investigated.

In addition, Austria is involved in a European working group that deals with investigations into the Ai program, but they don’t plan to start their own investigations. Italy, France, and Germany have taken different approaches. 

Italy temporarily banned the AI program, while Germany is currently investigating whether the data rights of its citizens are being protected by ChatGPT.

OpenAI is facing criticism over how it handles data processing in an opaque manner. This has become increasingly relevant as the AI model is being integrated into more products like search engines. 

Both the use and training of AI involve personal data, so authorities want clearer regulations for the legal basis of this in the future. The authorities have written a joint letter to OpenAI and are waiting for their response.
