HUAWEI has just introduced HarmonyOS 3.0. The third iteration of the company’s own OS was revealed alongside the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 and is expected to go global soon.

Harmony OS 3.0 features 1

Let’s go ahead and take look at the Universal Card widget format used by the OS. This makes for widgets that are adjustable in terms of size, shape, and style. You can also group them up to make them more organized and it will automatically change their size to fit your set-up or you can organize them into a stack.

As connectivity is a major part of this OS’ improvements, you can connect two pairs of headphones/TWS allowing you and a friend to listen to the same music.

We now go to the privacy improvements offered by version 3. This version keeps a log of how much your apps access your location, camera, microphone, files, and contacts. A graph will then help you decide which permission to remove manually although the system can do it automatically.

Moreover, the system can watch out for suspicious activities from malicious apps or untrusted apps that may compromise your phone. The system can also remove sensitive data from shared files like location and time.

HUAWEI also added some improvements regarding app launch times, responsiveness, power reduction during gaming, and overall optimization.

Furthermore, HarmonyOS 3.0 can connect two or more devices to create what the company is calling “Super Devices” and make them work in unison. However, you do not need to be connected to a WiFi network to use this capability. The HUAWEI devices will automatically sense each other.

With this capability, you can also connect include HarmonyOS Smart TVs to the mix and add two smart speakers to pair with it or a pair of TWS if you prefer going wireless.

Moreover, this feature also extends outside of HUAWEI devices like compatible treadmills or other headsets and pairs them with a HUAWEI smartwatch to track your progress or listen to music.

HarmonyOS also allows you to connect to cars and cast your apps on the car’s dashboard that quite similar to Android Auto which can also extend to smart home devices too.

HUAWEI is planning a mass update of all of its existing devices to HarmonyOS 3.0 starting in September so the list of supported devices will also be announced soon.
