Apple has unveiled the new iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display, the A20 Pro chip, and an IP67 rating. The Wi-Fi model starts at PHP 49,990 and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model at PHP 59,990, with both available soon at apple.com/ph and Apple Authorized Resellers.

A thinner body and an OLED display

The tablet is 5.4mm thick and comes in midnight and starlight. Its Super Retina XDR OLED panel is now 8.5 inches but does not widen the footprint, because the bezels are 24 percent thinner, and it reaches 1,200 nits of peak brightness — more than double the previous generation — with 600 nits of full-screen brightness for SDR and HDR content, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 1-nit minimum for dark rooms. A nano-texture option reduces glare in bright environments, and the IP67 rating covers splashes, water, and dust under lab conditions up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, though that resistance is not permanent and liquid damage is not covered by warranty.

A20 Pro, cameras, and connectivity

A20 Pro is built on a 2-nanometer process with a 7-core GPU that carries Neural Accelerators in every core, up to a 6-core CPU, and up to 4.5x faster AI performance than the previous generation, alongside up to 2.7x faster graphics and up to 60 percent faster multithreaded performance.

The 512GB configuration adds a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, putting 32 cores to work on on-device models, and unified memory bandwidth more than doubles.

The 12MP Center Stage front camera is on the landscape edge, while the 12MP Wide back camera captures 4K video at up to 60 fps and has an Adaptive True Tone flash. Audio comes through an Acoustic Display, with specially designed woofers paired through the display and tweeters hidden between the glass and the aluminum enclosure. Inside, Apple’s N1 chip brings Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, with Wi-Fi 7 available where supported, and cellular models add the C2 modem, enabling up to 50 percent faster cellular data speeds than the previous generation, plus eSIM support. The tablet ships with iPadOS 27, which adds extended display mode with iPadOS 27.2.

Price, storage, and accessories

The new iPad Mini comes in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants. Education pricing starts at PHP 45,990. The Wi-Fi model starts at PHP 49,990 and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model at PHP 59,990.
