A free fan project is rebuilding Diablo II as a survivors-like, and it runs in a browser tab. D2 Survivors is an unofficial tribute that borrows the classes, skills and loot of Blizzard’s action role-playing game and drops them into the horde-survival genre popularized by Vampire Survivors.
It is free, carries no ads, and sells nothing. The catch is that you need your own copy of the original, which the project uses as its source for art and audio.

What D2 Survivors actually is
You pick a hero and walk. Skills cast on their own while enemies close in, and each level offers a card to choose from. Runs stretch across the five acts of Diablo II, then into Nightmare and Hell.
All seven classes are included, along with their skill trees and the game’s own items, from the first drop to a unique’s gold name.
You bring your own Diablo II
The project does not ship Blizzard’s assets. Instead, it reads them from an install you already own, either Diablo II with the Lord of Destruction expansion at patch 1.14, or Diablo II: Resurrected.
That reading happens on your own machine. Files land in your browser’s storage or the desktop app’s folder, and nothing is uploaded. On the website, saves live in the browser, so the developer recommends exporting them periodically to keep a copy.
You can play in a browser, or install a desktop app for Windows, Mac on Apple silicon, or Linux in beta. Setup takes a single pointer to your existing install.

Who is behind it
D2 Survivors is made by Francisco Martínez, who goes by framara and is based in Spain. The project is explicit that it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or approved by Blizzard Entertainment, and its legal notice states that all Diablo II content remains Blizzard’s property.
The site also carries a standing takedown offer. If a rights holder asks for something to be changed or removed, the developer commits to handling it promptly, including taking the project down.
Funding comes from optional Ko-fi tips that buy nothing in the game. Full Korean support is built into both the game and the site, and there is a Discord for bug reports.

Why it is getting attention
Survivors-likes have become a common way to revisit older games, and Diablo II suits the treatment unusually well. Its class and loot depth gives the format more progression than the genre usually carries, which is the same appeal driving other entries in the genre.
It has circulated on Diablo communities and drawn streaming coverage rather than any storefront listing. Fan projects of this scale are not new, as our report on Diablo modding shows.
For anyone with a Diablo II install still sitting on a drive, the barrier is close to zero.

Where to play it
The game is at d2survivors.lol, with a setup guide for your own files and a project FAQ. The developer, framara, is on X and accepts optional support through Ko-fi.
