WinFuture reports that action camera specialist Insta360 is on the verge of introducing its latest model, the Insta360 X6, with the clear aim of increasing pressure on struggling competitor GoPro. The site states it has obtained official marketing images of the X6, which are already appearing in early retailer listings and confirm key design and performance details.

More compact housing and display layout

According to WinFuture, the Insta360 X6 uses a noticeably more compact housing than previous X‑series models, whose bodies were described as relatively long. The new camera format moves closer to classic action cameras because the device is “significantly shorter,” while retaining the familiar dual‑lens 360‑degree setup with sensors behind pronounced fisheye optics on both front and back.

On one side of the X6, Insta360 has integrated a display whose corners are rounded to different degrees at each end. WinFuture notes that the panel is primarily intended for controlling basic functions and for previewing what the camera is recording, as is typical for the series.

8K at 50 frames per second

WinFuture emphasizes that detailed technical specs beyond what appears in the marketing material are not yet available, but one specification is clearly visible in the images. The X6 is advertised as recording 8K‑resolution video at 50 frames per second in 360‑degree mode, indicating a substantial performance increase over previous models.

The article points out that earlier, the Insta360 X5—introduced in April 2025—could only manage 30 frames per second at 8K in 360‑degree mode. Whether persistent rumors about 8K at 60fps in 360 operation will be confirmed remains open; WinFuture explicitly notes that this detail still has to be seen.

From the retailer entries reviewed by WinFuture, the Insta360 X6 “will be anything but cheap.” Dealers are quoting prices starting at 689 euros for the camera without included accessories, while an “Essentials Bundle” is listed at 789 euros.
