Sony Interactive Entertainment has just announced in a blog that the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro will get a price change effective May 1. Additionally, the PlayStation Portal will also get a price increase.
In the Philippines, in particular, the price increase is for the PS5.
PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal – Price Increase
The announcement was made on April 27 in a blog. Starting May 1, 2026, the new retail price for the PlayStation 5 in the Philippines is PHP 40,032. For context, in October 2023, this was at PHP 30,790.

The company revealed that the price increase is due to the continued pressure in the global economic landscape. Additionally, it said that it was a “necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide.”

The price hike was also implemented in the US, the UK, Europe, and Japan last April 2.
