Qualcomm Technologies says its Snapdragon X Elite platform now powers Googlebook, the new laptop line Google is positioning as the first designed for Gemini Intelligence. The collaboration, announced on Sept. 22, puts the same on-device AI silicon Qualcomm already ships inside Android phones and tablets into a laptop that runs the Android stack.
Qualcomm describes the pairing as Gemini AI plus efficient, connected performance. Cast My Apps streams phone apps into a laptop window, Magic Pointer brings Gemini to whatever is on screen, and Rambler turns spoken notes into structured text. The setup surfaces information from email, calendars and on-screen content so users do not have to hop between devices.
Snapdragon X Elite puts Android apps on the Googlebook laptop
Because Googlebook runs the Android stack, software arrives as native Android apps and games instead of emulated builds. Snapdragon Elite Gaming features come along too, which Qualcomm says enables “connected and immersive experiences” for buyers who already play on a Snapdragon phone.
“The leading AI capabilities of Snapdragon X Elite have transformed personal computing and created new opportunities for more intelligent, personalized and productive experiences,” said Kedar Kondap, senior vice president and general manager for compute and gaming at Qualcomm Technologies. “Snapdragon X Elite delivers extraordinary performance and efficiency, now paired with support for native Android apps and games for Googlebooks users.”
Google’s John Solomon, vice president and general manager for laptops, tablets and Android Enterprise, framed the category as a companion to the phone. “Googlebook is a new category of laptops designed to work seamlessly with the Android devices our users already rely on every day,” he said. He added that Snapdragon X Elite delivers the “incredible performance, all-day battery life, and NPU efficiency needed to bring this ecosystem to life.”
Dell and HP are the first manufacturers bringing these machines to market, with the XPS Googlebook and the HP Googlebook 14. Qualcomm says both designs are available for pre-order now, and Google has opened pre-orders on its own store. There is no word yet on Philippine pricing or availability.
