vivo is reportedly testing a new device equipped with a beefy 12,000mAh battery. The news comes via trusted Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, signaling a major escalation in the industry’s ongoing “battery war.”
vivo 12,000mAh Battery Phone?
The leak suggests the device utilizes a high-density, 4.53V single-cell silicon-based battery. While the cell is rated at 10,000mAh, its typical capacity is expected to be between 11,000mAh and 12,000mAh. By using silicon-carbon technology, the company aims to pack more energy into a single cell without increasing the phone’s size.

This development follows a growing trend among Chinese manufacturers to move beyond the traditional 5,000mAh standard. Other competitors have already introduced 10,000mAh units, but vivo’s 12,000mAh prototype sets a new benchmark for mainstream smartphone brands.
Analysts say that while a large-capacity battery could offer “charge once a week” longevity, challenges remain regarding weight, heat management, and charging speeds. Because the device is currently in the internal testing phase, a commercial release date has not yet been confirmed.
