Samsung has just introduced its new LPDDR6 mobile DRAM, a foundational technology already recognized with a “2026 Innovation Award Honoree” badge. Built on the company’s 12 nm process, the new memory technology promises significant efficiency and security gains for future high-end devices.
Samsung LPDDR6 RAM Details
While LPDDR6 reaches peak speeds of up to 10.7 Gbps, matching the fastest LPDDR5X modules, the company’s focus shifts beyond raw throughput. It has boosted overall bandwidth by increasing the I/O count and added a new dynamic power management system. This results in a reported 21% reduction in power consumption compared to its predecessor.

This efficiency aims to support the growing demand for on-device AI processing. As phones and laptops transform into “edge computing machines,” running large models locally, LPDDR6 is designed to handle longer, more demanding AI sessions with battery efficiency in mind. Furthermore, Samsung has emphasized security, incorporating extra protections to safeguard data during this intensive processing.
Although it is unclear whether devices like the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature this new RAM, LPDDR6 is expected to be adopted by future flagship phones.
