Nothing has just announced Nothing OS 4.0, its latest OS based on Android 16. It isn’t quite fully launched yet, though, but the company has given us a good preview of what’s to come.
Nothing OS 4.0

Nothing OS 4.0, according to the company, builds on its predecessor, OS 3.0, but is said to be more transparent and offer better cohesion.

It introduces a darker Dark Mode, which is said to reduce eye strain and save power. Moreover, the upcoming Nothing OS version will come with reimagined lock screen clocks and cleaner Quick Settings.

One exciting addition will be Pop-up View, which keeps multitasking fluid by switching between two apps via two floating app icons.

Another feature that it will introduce is AI control, which will keep track of AI behavior on a dashboard to keep you fully informed.

Nothing OS 4.0 is confirmed to be rolled out first via an Open Beta testing program, which, based on the post, could be around October 20, 2025.
We expect OS 4.0 to be rolled out for the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Pro, and even the Phone (2). We released our full review of the Phone (3), which you can read here.
