The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Training Center-NCR has formalized a partnership with TCL to address the growing demand for skilled heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technicians in the Philippines.

The collaboration centers on the establishment of the TESDA-TCL Center, a dedicated training facility designed to provide hands-on technical education with direct pathways to employment.
What Skills Gap Does This Partnership Address?
The partnership is a response to the consistent demand for qualified HVAC technicians in the Philippine market. TESDA has identified the need to bridge the gap between theoretical training and practical industry requirements, particularly in providing students with experience using modern HVAC equipment. This team up is set to enhance existing training programs by incorporating real-world applications that better prepare graduates for immediate workforce entry.
What Features Does the TESDA-TCL Center Offer?

The newly established training facility features two primary components: a hands-on training space and a modern lecture room. The training area allows students to practice assembling, installing, and servicing air conditioning units, providing practical experience that complements classroom learning. The lecture facility is equipped with modern audio-visual equipment to support technical instruction.

The center focuses on the Domestic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (DOMRAC) program, offering trainees direct access to current technology and industry-standard practices. Students work with actual TCL air conditioning units to gain familiarity with equipment they may encounter in professional settings.
How Does the Training-to-Employment Pathway Work?
The program is structured to provide not only technical skills development but also clear pathways for graduates to enter the workforce. This addresses both the immediate training needs of students and the longer-term workforce requirements of the HVAC industry.
TCL will also include technical training led by the company’s air conditioning service experts. This industry-led instruction ensures that students receive training aligned with current market practices and employer expectations.
What Additional Support and Equipment Donations Are Included?

TCL has also committed to supporting other TESDA facilities through donations of various appliances, including televisions, refrigerators, and air conditioning units, with an aim of modernizing training environments across multiple programs and provide students with exposure to contemporary technology.
The partnership was formalized during a memorandum of agreement signing ceremony attended by officials from both organizations. Key participants included Eugene P. Agcaoili, Regional Training Center-NCR Center Administrator; Cariza A. Dacuma, TESDA-NCR Assistant Regional Director; Maria Gracia P. Dela Rama, TESDA MuntiParLas-TaPat District Director; and representatives from TCL Philippines including Deputy Director of Air Conditioner and B2B Business Bert Cheung.
How Sustainable Is This Long-term Collaboration?
Both organizations have expressed commitment to maintaining the partnership beyond its initial implementation. The collaboration is positioned as a sustainable, long-term initiative rather than a single program, with both parties indicating intentions to continue and potentially expand the partnership over time.
