The ZTE Global Summit 2026 opened in Kuala Lumpur on September 10, gathering more than 500 government officials, operator executives and industry partners for the company’s largest annual overseas forum. The 15th edition runs alongside GSMA M360 ASEAN for the first time.
Under the theme “Architecting Infinity — From Connectivity to Digital Value,” The ZTE Global Summit 2026 was a venue to map out a commercial roadmap that stretches from network infrastructure and computing to consumer devices.
A “Connectivity plus Computing” strategy

ZTE executive vice president and chief operating officer Xie Junshi framed the direction in his keynote: “Across the globe, connectivity and computing are coming together. This is a major industry trend. Global 5G keeps expanding with steady growth. At the same time, AI has become a key growth driver for the industry.”
At the ZTE Global Summit 2026, he described AI as the brain, communications infrastructure as the nervous system and terminals as the carrier that brings the two together. Senior vice president Zhang Wanchun, who spoke on the next phase of digital infrastructure, summed up the roadmap as a four-fold journey of “vision, volume, value and venture.”
AI-native networks and the token economy
At the ZTE Global Summit 2026, the company detailed AIR MAX, a three-layer upgrade it says moves mobile networks from single-scenario intelligence to full-scenario AI-native intelligence. AIR RAN targets experience monetisation through four “turbos” covering experience, spectrum, energy and operations. AIR Net applies a “1+N” model matrix to help operators reach high-level autonomous networks, while AIR Core introduces an Agent Service Network that extends connectivity beyond people and machines to AI entities such as home robots, digital humans and virtual assistants.
The NWDAF and AI-UPF work in synergy to deliver service identification with over 98% accuracy. On the wireline side, the company highlighted HI-NET’s lossless OTN transport of training and inference data, a core router rated at 28.8 Tbps per slot, and an AI All-Optical Network with 16-port Any PON 2.0 that evolves to 50G-PON. Its AI Factory pitch is cost per token: full-stack AI compute, storage and networking tuned to lower total cost of ownership.

On the consumer side, ZTE deepened its “AI + gaming” strategy with two gaming smartphones: the nubia Neo 5 GT, which uses an active fan-cooling system, and the nubia Neo 5 Max, which is a PadPhone with a 7.5-inch display. We previously put the nubia Neo 3 5G through its paces.
ZTE also showed the ZTE G6 Ultra, which it calls the world’s first 5G-A Wi-Fi 8 CPE, alongside the iMoochi AI pet, the TOPFLOW live-streaming hub and the U15S Global pocket Wi-Fi.
What it signals for the Philippines
For the Philippines, the relevance sits mostly in the infrastructure layer.
