Synology Solution Day 2026 brought more than 500 business and IT professionals to the Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City on October 1, and the program treated artificial intelligence as a storage and governance problem before it is a model problem. Across five sessions and a customer panel, the company argued that Philippine organizations will only get useful results from AI if the data behind it is findable, protected, and under their own control.

What Synology Solution Day 2026 Covered

Claire Huang, Synology’s Philippines country manager, opened the main session with the framing the rest of the day followed.

“As organizations generate more data and adopt AI across their operations, they need infrastructure that not only protects critical information but also gives them greater control over how it is stored, managed, and used.”

The agenda split that argument into five working parts. Louis Ho, solution manager, took surveillance, covering flexible deployment and search across multiple sites. Emily Oh, account manager, presented ActiveProtect as proactive threat mitigation rather than backup maintenance. Jason Sin, also an account manager, handled two sessions, one on Synology Office Suite as a private cloud productivity stack and one on Synology Photos as a way to turn large image and video libraries into searchable assets. Antoine Yang, regional sales manager, gave the opening remarks, and a panel titled From Challenge to Transformation filled the mid afternoon slot.

Why Data Ownership Is the Real Pitch

No new hardware was launched in Manila. The sessions pushed the software layer that makes Synology’s appliances worth buying, with backup and recovery through ActiveProtect, document collaboration through Office Suite, media search through Synology Photos, and camera management through its surveillance platform. For a CIO, that bundle is the direct alternative to renting the same functions from a cloud provider, where storage, egress, and per seat licensing compound over a three year term. Synology’s pitch is that keeping the data on hardware the organization owns gives it tighter control over cost, access, and compliance.

The strongest local hook is ActiveProtect itself. In September, Synology shipped ActiveProtect Manager 2.0, which extended coverage to Amazon EC2, Azure VM, Proxmox VE, Nutanix AHV, and Google Workspace, and added volume level encryption. That release is the concrete product behind the resilience talk at the event, and it is the one enterprise buyers can evaluate now.

What It Means for Philippine Enterprises

The practical question for local IT teams is narrower than the vendor story. Before funding an AI pilot, they need to know where the training data sits, how long a restore actually takes, and whether that restore has ever been tested. Those are the numbers ActiveProtect is built to consolidate, and they are the same numbers auditors ask for after an incident. The pressure is already visible locally: as Philippine enterprises move AI work from pilot to production, data placement and recovery are the constraints that decide which projects survive contact with operations.

Synology counts more than 500 attendees for the Manila leg. The company did not announce new products or Philippine pricing at the event, and points local inquiries to synology.com/en-ph.
