LG PuriCare AeroMini Review

The LG PuriCare AeroMini is the smallest air purifier LG sells here, aimed at rooms where a full-size tower is too loud, too big, or simply the wrong object to look at all day. It is rated for 27 square metres, weighs 3.1 kg and draws 21 watts. After living with it in a small home office, the case for it is not the spec sheet. It is that you forget it is on.

What the LG PuriCare AeroMini actually is

The AeroMini is a cylinder roughly 360 mm tall and 250 mm across, the same footprint class as a large desktop speaker. LG says that is 37 percent less floor area and 30 percent less height than the PuriCare 360 Hit: this is a purifier you put on things, not beside them.

Inside is a three-layer H filter LG rates to capture 99.999% of ultra-fine dust down to 0.01 micrometres, plus 99.8 percent of bacteria, 98.5 percent of viruses and 99.9 percent of mould. Air is drawn from every direction and pushed up and out, so unlike a front-facing tower it does not matter which way you point it.

Why it suits a home office specifically

Most purifiers are sized for a living room, so a home office ends up with a machine built for a space four times larger. The AeroMini is the opposite: 27 sqm is matched to the room it is in, and 211 m3/hr of clean air delivery turns that volume over often enough to matter.

The useful part is that it sits on the desk instead of on the floor in a corner. A purifier only helps if it is where the air is. The room also keeps its space: this does not read as a utility appliance parked out of the way.

Before and after: what changes in a small room

This is the part LG asked us to show directly, and the honest version is that the change is gradual and shows up in what stops happening. Before the AeroMinim this desk needed wiping every couple of days. During the review period the surface stayed cleaner for longer, and the room stopped smelling stale after being closed up overnight. This says a lot about the truth about their claim.

It is also measurable, because the AeroMini carries a PM 1.0, PM 2.5 and PM 10 sensor and reports air quality live through a four-colour indicator. Run it for twenty minutes in a closed room and the indicator moves.

Living with allergic rhinitis

This is the observation that mattered most. In our small home office, with the unit running continuously through the review period, there was not a single allergic rhinitis episode that I experienced. That is an anecdote, not a clinical trial, and a purifier is not a treatment. But for anyone who has spent a season working through a runny nose, it is the most relevant thing this review can report. A 27 sqm room is small enough that one AeroMini genuinely covers it, which is likely why the effect showed up at all.

Quiet enough to record beside

LG rates the AeroMini from 23 dB to 48 dB, with Sleep Mode quoted at 26 dB. On the low and medium steps it is inaudible to a microphone that is not sitting on top of it, making it one of very few purifiers you can leave running while shooting in a small studio. At the top step it is plainly audible, and that is the setting for when you leave the room.

Design and the accessory system

The AeroMini is a good-looking object, which matters for a device that sits in view all day. The concealed filter cover keeps the base clean, the mint finish reads as furniture rather than equipment, and the top takes modular accessories: a leather carry handle and a container that doubles as a flower holder. Both are extras, but the handle solves a real complaint about cylindrical purifiers, which is that there is nothing sensible to grab.

Cleaning and replacing the filter

Maintenance is where compact purifiers usually fail, because the filter hides behind a housing that needs tools. The AeroMini uses an all-in-one dust and deodorization cartridge that lifts out of the base, so cleaning is a wipe-down and replacing it takes seconds with nothing to unscrew. The trade is cost: an all-in-one cartridge runs more per swap than separate pre-filter and HEPA stages.

ThinQ app and the on-device controls

Everything essential works without a phone: power, fan steps and the four-color indicator are all on the unit. The LG ThinQ app adds remote control, live readings from the PM 1.0 sensor, an eight-color ambient light and AI+ mode, which adjusts the fan for you. Worth installing, but nothing important is locked behind it.

What could be better

One room per unit. 27 sqm is a bedroom or a home office. For a whole ground floor, you want the AeroBooster line instead.
Consumables are LG-specific. The cartridge and accessories come from LG, so long-term cost is whatever LG decides it is.
Price. At PhP9,495 it is not the cheapest way to buy 211 m3/hr of clean air. You are paying for the 21 W draw, the 23 dB floor, and a size that lets it live on a desk.

Verdict

The AeroMini is the first air purifier we would recommend putting on a desk rather than hiding in a corner. It is matched to the room it is meant for, quiet enough to run while you work or record, and cheap enough to leave on all day at 21 watts. For a home office, or for anyone with allergic rhinitis working in one small room, that is a straightforward recommendation. It is not a whole-home solution and not the cheapest way to move air.
