iQOO has officially announced that the iQOO 16 will be the world’s first smartphone with a 2K display and a 165Hz refresh rate. The announcement came at a joint Samsung Display and iQOO event.

The new flagship uses Samsung’s new 2K LEAD 2.0 technology and is the first Android device to feature Samsung’s cutting-edge M16 luminescent material. This partnership goes beyond standard off-the-shelf components, resulting in a custom high-refresh-rate IC and a dedicated production line specifically tailored for iQOO’s newest flagship.

The new flagship is driven by a proprietary sub-pixel-level calibration algorithm; the panel delivers exceptional color accuracy (±0.001). The company reports a nearly 40% improvement in color uniformity and a 22% boost in brightness uniformity over the previous generation. Brightness levels are equally unprecedented, supporting 1,100 nits manually, 2,800 nits globally, and a staggering 10,000 nits of local peak brightness.

Additionally, the device incorporates the brand’s Q-flex control technology to drastically minimize input latency. It also boasts a new touch chip offering 5000Hz instantaneous and 500Hz multi-finger touch sampling rates to ensure ultra-responsive gameplay.

Finally, the display prioritizes eye comfort and visibility with full-brightness DC dimming, up to 3300Hz PWM dimming, three-photosensitive full-area light sensing, and a dedicated gaming glare protection mode.
