Emberville, the pixel-art action RPG from Irish indie studio Cygnus Cross, is joining Steam Next Fest from October 19 to 26, 2026, and the demo will be public for the entire run of the event.
Steam has confirmed the October edition of Next Fest runs October 19 to October 26, starting and ending at 10:00 AM PDT. In Philippine time, that is October 20 at 1:00 AM PHT through October 27 at 1:00 AM PHT, so local players get the full window to try it.
The demo lands a day before Emberville enters Early Access on October 27, 2026. Cygnus Cross says the game has now passed 600,000 wishlists globally.
What Emberville is about
You wake up with no memories inside the Vitromotus, a vast underground world built as a magical dungeon where death no longer lasts. From there it follows a familiar action RPG loop: explore the depths, fight what lives down there, rescue survivors, and rebuild the ruined town of Emberville while working out why the prison exists in the first place.
Weapons decide the build, not classes
There is no class pick at the start. Progression runs through weapons and equipment instead, and every weapon type carries its own attacks, combos and upgrade path. Swapping gear changes how the character plays, while skills and equipment stats leave room to experiment with different builds without committing to one for the whole run.
Dungeons that change, loot that feeds back
Combat is fast and top-down, built around handling several enemies at once. The world itself is handcrafted, but the dungeons change as you revisit them, so farming routes do not stay static. Loot pulled out of those runs goes straight back into character growth.
The town is a second progression track
Between runs, you can rescue NPCs and help rebuild Emberville. Gathering, crafting, farming and building give the town its own upgrade path, plus a personal space you can develop as you push deeper into the world.
A voice cast with serious RPG pedigree
Cygnus Cross has confirmed the cast, and it leans on names RPG players will recognize: Doug Cockle, who voiced Geralt in The Witcher series, Amelia Tyler, the narrator of Baldur’s Gate 3, and Jennifer English, who played Shadowheart in the same game, alongside performers known for roles including Clive in Final Fantasy and Leon in the Resident Evil series.
What Early Access will look like
The Steam page says Early Access is expected to run for around 12 months based on the current roadmap, with community feedback shaping content and features. Modding support is one of the additions planned for the full release.
The store page lists single-player, full controller support, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, and 30 supported languages with English full audio. Pricing has not been announced, so Philippine pricing and availability are still to be confirmed.
