Foldables have always come with a silent question: what happens when it breaks? The HONOR Magic V6 answers that question before you even open the box. HONOR pulled a one-ton aircraft with the phone as its launch stunt, and after a week of living with the device, that claim stops feeling like marketing. This is the first foldable I’ve reviewed where durability is the headline feature, not a footnote.

Price and positioning

The Magic V6 lands at ₱119,999 for the 24GB + 512GB configuration, putting it squarely against the Galaxy Z Fold8 and OPPO Find N6, the two foldables we reviewed earlier this year. HONOR sweetens the deal with a free HONOR Pad X8b for pre-orders, plus up to 24 months of zero-interest installments. At this price, it competes on confidence as much as specs.

Design and display

Folded, the V6 measures just 8.8mm and weighs 219g, which makes it feel closer to a slab phone than a foldable. The red colorway I received has a felt-like texture on the back that gives it a distinctly premium, almost leather-like hand feel. The hinge feels solid with no wobble, and with IP68 and IP69 ratings, dust and water are no longer part of the foldable worry list.

The 7.95-inch inner LTPO AMOLED runs at 120Hz with a 5,000-nit peak, while the 6.52-inch cover display reaches 6,000 nits for direct sunlight. Both are bright, sharp, and color-accurate, and the anti-reflective coating on the inner screen helps when using the phone outdoors.

The crease is almost nowhere to be seen. This is one of the major improvements of the HONOR Magic V6. If the HONOR Magic V5 wowed me for its less discernible crease, this new version takes the cake for being better. Honestly, however, it still falls short when compared to Galaxy Z Fold8’s crease situation.

Performance and gaming

Under the hood is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage on my review unit. I played Diablo Immortal, Neverness to Everness, and Steam titles through GameNative, including Hades II, Ball X Pit, and Megabonk.

All of them ran without stutter, and the device stayed cool enough that thermals never became a talking point. This is flagship performance in every sense, with Android 16 and MagicOS 10 on top. Pair this with a gaming controller, and you got yourself a device that almost rival the Steam Deck. Yes, you read it right. With the advancement of playing PC Games on ARM based devices, my experience of playing Steam games on the Magic V6 is more than satisfactory.

Benchmarks

Beyond day-to-day use, I measured the Magic V6 with four standard apps: AnTuTu Benchmark for overall system performance, Geekbench 6 for single and multi-core CPU results, 3DMark Wild Life Extreme for sustained GPU load, and PCMark for real-world productivity workloads like web browsing, photo editing, and document work. Each suite stresses a different part of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, so the results together paint a fuller picture than any single score.

The phone scored 1,711,375 on AnTuTu, which puts it firmly in top-tier flagship territory. Geekbench 6 returned 1,372 single-core and 4,950 multi-core, and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme hit 6,029, a strong result that lines up with the smooth gaming I saw in Diablo Immortal, Neverness to Everness, and the Steam titles through GameNative. PCMark rounded things out with 16,679, confirming that heavy productivity work is comfortably within reach. None of these numbers tell the full story on their own, but taken together with the sustained real-world performance, the Magic V6 delivers what its price tag promises.

Cameras

The camera system is where the V6 most clearly steps past its predecessor. The 50MP main sensor, 64MP periscope with 3x optical zoom, and 50MP ultrawide deliver a huge jump over the HONOR Magic V5 I reviewed last year. There is no question that if you’re looking for a foldable device that can really take good photos, this lands on Top #2 in my book. vivo takes the win, followed by HONOR, OPPO, and then Samsung.

Zoom performance is dramatically better, clarity and color accuracy are on point, and portrait shots are the best I’ve seen in this class. For a phone at this price, the camera alone justifies a close look.

Not only does the HONOR Magic V6 takes good photos, but it takes amazing videos as well. What’s even more impressive is that you can take great videos even with its native camera app. Just like last year’s iteration, you can do LOG recording if you want to be more creative with your work.

Battery and charging

The 6,600mAh silicon-carbon battery is the biggest in a foldable, and it shows. I got about 15 hours of real-world use on a single charge, which comfortably spans a full workday. When it runs low, the 80W wired charging refills the phone from zero to full in about an hour, and there’s 66W wireless charging if you prefer to skip the cable.

Software and AI

MagicOS 10 runs Android 16 with a seven-year update commitment, and its ecosystem features are among the best implementations I’ve tested, especially with the iPhone. AirPods connect easily, iCloud works, and notification sharing and hotspot sharing with iPhones are seamless.

Using it with a MacBook requires a companion app, which is slightly inconvenient, but forgivable given how well everything else plays together. Buyers also get three free months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage, plus HONOR’s AI meeting agent, AI translate, and Multiflex multitasking tools.

What could be better

The Honor Magic V6 gets a little bulky when you put on a case. The included original case is good and adds a flippable stand, but it drops MagSafe compatibility, so magnetic accessories are out. There’s also a UX quirk: unfolding the phone while watching a video on Facebook stops playback, which breaks the continuity that foldables are supposed to deliver.
