Nintendo Switch 2 players will soon be able to experience Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising with a new Legendary Edition launching September 17, 2026. Developed by Arc System Works and published by Cygames, the game is now available for pre-order through the Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version introduces Gyro Versus, a new mode that uses the console’s motion controls. Players can perform combos and abilities by shaking a Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2. This offers an accessible way to experience the game’s battles regardless of skill level.
Legendary Edition Content
Priced at USD 49.99 for the Switch 2, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition includes the base game and access to all 40 playable characters, including Id. The package also contains content from the game’s first and second character passes.
- Deluxe Character Pass Part 1 includes the Season 1 downloadable characters and premium avatars, four color variants and three weapon skins for those characters, the Guider to the Eternal Edge costumes for Gran and Djeeta, and the Vikala premium avatar.
- Deluxe Character Pass Part 2 adds the Season 2 downloadable characters and premium avatars, four color variants and three weapon skins, the Canaan Shrine stage, and the Sandalphon premium avatar in his Dark design. The edition also includes the Additional Character Set featuring Id.
Pre-orders and early purchases will alsoc come with the Reverent Attire costume for Sandalphon. The costume can be used during battles or in Figure Studio. The bonus is available until 6:59 a.m. on January 12, 2027, Pacific Time, after which it is planned to be sold separately.
New Battle Mechanics
The Version 2.60 update arrives on September 17 along with the Nintendo Switch 2 release. It adds chain attacks which gives players more opportunities to extend combos, and the Super Ultimate+ control scheme.
Super Ultimate+ lets players use powerful versions of characters that significantly exceed their standard capabilities, adding a distinct variation to the fighting experience. These two system mechanics will also be available on the Standard and Deluxe Editions for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam.
Gyro Versus, however, is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 version and can only be played in Versus Mode. The Additional Character Set featuring Id will also be sold separately.
Local and Cross-Platform Play
With Nintendo Switch 2 local communication, players can arrange matches with nearby friends without an internet connection. Crossplay support also allows players to compete in ranked and casual matches against users on other platforms, or join Grand Bruise! party games.
Save Data Bonuses and Merchandise
Players who link existing save data from Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok and Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising on the same platform can receive bonuses in both games. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising rewards include an Id weapon skin, two Id color variants, lobby avatars, special card designs, a trophy, and Id’s system voice.
New Id merchandise, including a large acrylic stand and key chain, will be available for pre-order on CyStore starting September 17. An acrylic stand featuring Sandalphon in Reverent Attire will also be offered. Pre-orders close at 11 p.m. on October 18, 2026, Pacific Time.
