Huawei has expanded its foldable lineup with the HUAWEI Pura X Max, a larger and thinner take on its wide foldable concept. The new model builds on the original Pura X by increasing screen size, improving battery capacity, adding stylus support, and introducing a more advanced camera and durability package.
Display and Design

The HUAWEI Pura X Max has a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.7-inch main display, as compared with the original Pura X’s 3.5-inch outer screen and 6.3-inch main panel. Huawei also made the new device slimmer in folded and unfolded states, while increasing its footprint and weight to accommodate the larger panels.

While the original Pura X used a 16:10 layout, the Pura X Max is closer to a traditional book-style foldable. Its inner display has a resolution of 2,584 x 1,828 pixels, which works out to a 14.1:10 ratio. The outer screen uses an 1,848 x 1,264-pixel panel with nearly the same aspect ratio. Both are LTPO 2.0 displays with 1-120Hz refresh rates and 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.

Huawei has also equipped the device with an aluminum alloy frame and second-generation Kunlun glass on the outer display. Protection has also been upgraded from IPX8 to IP58/IP59.
Stylus and Accessories

One notable upgrade to the HUAWEI Pura X Max is stylus support, being compatible with the Huawei M-Pen 3 Mini, a compact stylus designed to fit the phone’s shorter height. Huawei also revealed a specially designed case for the pen, along with another case that includes a magnetic flip-out stand.
Performance and Battery
The HUAWEI Pura X Max runs on the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, which Huawei says delivers a 30% performance uplift over the Kirin 9020 used in the original Pura X. It’s cooled by a vapor chamber and a graphene sheet, and the phone ships with HarmonyOS 6.1.
Battery capacity has also been improved. The new model houses a 5,300mAh battery, up from 4,720mAh on the original device. It supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless SuperCharge.
Camera System
Huawei has upgraded the camera setup as well. The Pura X Max boasts a 50MP main camera with OIS and a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. It is joined by a 50MP periscope camera with OIS and an f/2.2 lens, plus a 12.5MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 lens.
All three rear cameras utilize RYYB sensors, which replace green pixels with yellow sub-pixels, plus Huawei’s XMAGE image processing and a second-generation color sensor. The phone has two 8MP selfie cameras, one on each display, mainly for video calls. Users can also shoot selfies with the main cameras when they want higher quality.
