The Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER addresses the RTX 4070 TI’s shortcomings by adding more cores, and more VRAM while maintaining the same power and surprisingly a lower price. One thing that the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has in common with the RTX 4070 Ti apart from the 285W TGP, and 2.61GHz boost speed is that both have no Founders Edition model. Thus we have the MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X to see if it’s worth the Php 55,420 SRP.

DISCLOSURE NOTICE

MSI and Nvidia found a 5% performance discrepancy among RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GPUs and we were informed and given a vBIOS update which supposedly brought its performance closer to what the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER should be. Our benchmark results are now using the latest vBIOS which according to Nvidia, should now only have about a 3% variance.

As mentioned earlier, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER doesn’t have a Founders Edition variant like the previously launched RTX 4070 Ti. Like the RTX 4070 SUPER, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has a spec bump compared to its non-super counterpart albeit in a measly 10-percent increase compared to the 70 SUPER’s 20-percent uplift. That said, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is the only RTX 40 SUPER card to come with an increased memory of 16GB GDDR6X coming from the non-super’s 12GB GDDR6X config. The core count increase and the larger memory seem to not impact power consumption as we still have the same 285W TGP and 700W PSU requirement.

MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X – Unboxing and Overview

Unlike most GPU packaging we see these days, the MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X has a render of the GPU in the front showcasing the triple-fan setup with a very plain background. The back shows more about the Ventus 3X cooler as well as Nvidia GeForce GPU features.

The MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X comes in a two-tone design for the cooling shroud. While MSI aimed for some sort of metallic or robotic design, you could easily tell even from a distance that the shroud is made out of plastic due to the finish on the silver part of the shroud.

The MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X has the common display outputs namely three Display Port 1.4a ports and one HDMI 2.1 port.

The MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X is the second largest RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GPU in our stack only next to the ASUS TUF Gaming variant. Moreover, it’s the only three-fan MSRP card with the other MSRP card being the Inno3D RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Twin X2 which is also used as our reference RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GPU review.

MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X Temperatures and Power Draw

Despite the vBIOS performance issue, the MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X had a decent peak temperature of 70.9°C but had the highest idle temp of 37.2°C among Nvidia GPUs in our stack and is the second highest idle temp in our benchmark suite next to the AMD RX 7800 XT.

GPU Power draw is relatively okay as it only peaked at 284.512W however other reviews are reporting higher than usual power draw – possibly related to the vBIOS performance issues.

Performance Summary Conclusion

MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X Review Philippines
MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X Review Philippines

Per our benchmarks, you could see the 3% performance disparity with our other RTX 4070 Ti SUPER MSRP card hurting the MSI Ventus 3X’s numbers, especially at 1080p and 1440p. That said, considering how fast MSI and Nvidia worked on a patch and the mere fact that Nvidia themselves are involved, we’re expecting the performance issue to be solved by the time the second wave of stocks arrive – the first batch probably still has the older vBIOS and early buyers may have to update their GPUs themselves.

Supposed issue aside, the MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X is a Php 55,420 MSRP card which is its saving grace. Rarely do you get a larger cooler-sized card that has three fans and consumes almost 3-slots only to be priced at MSRP. It shares the two-tone silver and black design with the Inno3D variant albeit its approach is completely different which attracts a different audience altogether.

That said, the larger heatsink and triple fan setup may attract those who are looking to build a “powerful-looking” rig. So, if you’re not building an SFF rig or you’ve cleared out case compatibility, then the MSI Ventus RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 3X is a decent alternative, especially when you’re aiming for a more well-rounded design and aesthetics to complement your PC build – provided that the performance issue is solved by the time you’re reading this review or out to purchase the GPU.
