Huawei has officially unveiled the nova 8 series in an online press conference. The new nova series is comprised of the nova 8 and nova 8 Pro.
The nova 8 series is powered by the 7nm Kirin 985 chipset which comes with Wi-Fi 6+ connection. The Kirin 985 5G chipset is joined by 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage for both phones.
Huawei nova 8 Pro
The Huawei nova 8 Pro is built around a 6.72-inch FHD+ resolution display with an 80-degree super curved design. The panel also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and a maximum brightness of 800 nits. Housed in the punch-hole in its display is a duo of a 32MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 16MP main front camera.
Around the back, the Pro variant has a 64MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture along with an 8MP ultra-wide angle, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth of field sensor.
The Pro version gets its power from a 4000mAh battery with 66W Huawei Super Fast Charging support which is said to top off in just 35 minutes.
Huawei nova 8
The Huawei nova 8, on the other hand, is smaller with a 6.57-inch FHD+ resolution display. It supports up to 90Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It has a peak brightness of 700 nits and supports true+ 1 billion colors and AI anti-mistouch.
The vanilla nova 8 has a lone 32MP front camera housed in a punch hole at the center of the top of its display. While its rear cameras are comprised of a 64MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth of field sensor.
The nova 8 has a smaller battery as well at just 3800mAh but retains the 66W Huawei Super Fast Charging support.
Price and availability
The Huawei nova 8 will retail for CNY 3,299 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage will go for CNY 3,699.
The Huawei nova 8 Pro, on the other hand, starts at CNY 3,999 for the 8GB/128GB configuration and CNY 4,399 for the 8/256GB variant.
