Truth be told, Filipinos put their budget as a necessary factor when planning to purchase a new smartphone. Realme 3’s price and benefits offering make it a worthy budget to mid tier smartphone purchase, but it didn’t stop the company from introducing a few more interesting products up its sleeves.

Just today, Realme introduced Realme 3 Pro, a high-specced variant of the Realme 3 line and it’s posed to be one of their  latest best offering yet. While Realme 3 is impressive, Realme 3 Pro gives consumers another option that features flagship-level camera and gaming performances.

For starters, the Pro version is bigger in terms of device dimensions and display size. Sleep/wake button is conveniently placed on the right side of the device, and the volume rockers are located on its left. No particular complaints about that.

The device has 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, micro USB port and mono speakers at the bottom of the device. Another microphone is placed at the top of the device, and its triple-slot SIM + MicroSD card tray is just above the volume rockers.

Zeroing onto its display, the smartphone has bigger resolution compared to Realme 3 – 2340 x 1080px vs 1520 x 720px. Ifyou’re a fan of watching movies or TV contents on your smartphone, having a Full HD screen like the one on Realme 3 Pro is definitely the way to go. This also particularly benefits those who wish to play games on smartphones. Be it PUBG Mobile, LifeAfter or Mobile Legends, Realme 3 Pro offersthe right amount of screen resolution and quality for mobile gamers.

I am also happy to report that color accuracy, sharpness and contrast are on point on Realme 3 Pro’s display. It is interesting to see how mid range mobile phones have evolved to dabble into flagship territory.  With this latest smartphone by Realme, consumers will be delighted to experience performance on smartphone that can somewhat – in some respects –  rival flagship devices.

In terms of performance, Realme 3 Pro dazzles with 155,428 Antutu Rating. While this is just a number to represent how well it performs, it actually works differently in real world performance. It’s fast, responsive and more than capable enough to let us play our favorite mobile games in high to maximum settings. We would love to cover this on our full review, but for what it’s worth, we’d like to let you know as early as now that we played the following games at maximum and high frame rate settings:

  • Mobile Legends
  • PUBG Mobile
  • LifeAfter

We can credit its outstanding performance to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 710AIE with Adreno 616 GPU and backed by 6GB RAM. There is also a 4GB RAM variant, and that’s something that you can also consider, which costs less than PhP2,000 compared to its 6GB variant.

Realme 3 Pro excels even more in the camera department. Its 16MP main camera uses a Sony IMX519 sensor, augmented by a 5MP depth sensing shooter. The camera is capable of taking handheld low light shots via the Nightscape Mode, has Chroma Boost, and can record 960fps slow mo videos at 720p. Up front, the 25MP AI-assisted camera features AI Beautification and AI Face Unlock.

As usual, more photos will be posted on our full review. As you can see in the photos, Realme 3 Pro takes photos with laudable quality. Nightscape shots can be better, but it’s current quality is more than enough for me to be impressed by it. The level of details you can change when taking selfies are overwhelming. You can make your face smooth, thinner or smaller from levels 0 to 100; and you can even adjust the level of your chin. Wild!

There is expert mode if you want to be in control of various photography settings. You can adjust exposure, white balance, focus and exposure value when taking photos. Too bad its video mode does not have the same manual settings, but there are plenty of video camera apps in Play Store that you can download and use.

Additional photo modes like Panorama, Time-lapse and Slo-mo are available too. If your creativity juice kicks in, you can be assured that Realme 3 Pro has got your back.

What’s our initial verdict? Whatever it can offer to the table makes it difficult for us to draw out an initial conclusion that this one’s going to slay its mid range competitors to pieces. Will it hold up to amaze us until our full review. We’ll find out soon.

Realme 3 Pro is priced at PhP12,990 for the 4GB + 64GB variant, and PhP14,990 for the 6GB + 128GB variant. Pre-Order is available until May 24, while claiming of units is from May 25 to 26, 2019. You can also avail the unit via Home Credit’s Zero Interest 6-month installment plan. It comes in three colors –  Lightning Purple, Nitro Blue, and Carbon Grey.
