Huawei Nova 2i users will soon be able to enjoy a fast, safe, and accurate method of unlocking their phones, as the company has started the roll out of an update that brings the Face Unlock feature to the device.
The device has been purchased by over 3 million users around the world since its launch last October. Now, the Nova 2i has an added weapon to its arsenal, apart from its FullView display and imaging prowess using its four cameras.
The new feature also brings the phone ahead of the competition at its price point. It offers the user two options – Direct Unlock, or Slide to Unlock, which, allows the user to take advantage of smart lock screen notifications. When the phone identifies that the current user isn’t the owner of the Face ID, it will automatically hide all notifications from the lock screen.
The Nova 2i’s Facial Recognition feature involves three dimensions of protection:
- Storage Security – where information about the user’s Face is stored in the Kirin chipset’s CPU TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) area.
- Algorithm Security – scanning and analyzing more than 1000 points in the user’s face to ensure accurate detection.
- Prevent the phone from being unlocked when your eyes are closed – this ensures that no one can unlock the phone while the owner is sleeping.
Updating is easy. Simply follow the steps below:
Step 1: Go to Settings > System Update
Step 2: Tap the three-dots icon on the upper right corner, and select Download latest full package.
