Doogee Mix is definitely not a slouch as seen from its full specifications above. Doogee, however, isn’t just marketing it as a device packed with powerful hardware, it is also highlighting its prominent almost-bezel less display.

Doogee Mix 9The word ‘beautiful’ comes to mind whenever I look at Doogee Mix, which now sits beside my keyboard while I type this sentence. At its sub PhP13,000 price, it is probably the most attractive looking smartphone available in the market today.

Doogee Mix 48In terms of width, it is almost as wide as my ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom and OnePlus 5. It is good to note that the latter devices sport a 5.5-inch display (diagonal) in a 6-inch (vertical size) frame. The Doogee Mix, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch Samsung Super AMOLED display in a 5-inch frame. In effect, it is a phone that provides maximum entertainment with its big screen is a small and comfortable-to-hold form factor.

The screen is unbelievably sharp. Color saturation is over the top though, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It may just be a little too much for some people who prefer natural colors over overblown ones.

Doogee Mix 46Its screen is just the tip of the iceberg. Doogee’s curved size bezels, and its front and back glass panels bring more ‘beauty’ to the spectrum.

Doogee made sure that Mix maintains a sleek and minimalist look. All the switches are neatly placed on the right side of its rounded side bezel.  The capacitive home button with a fingerprint sensor is just below its 5.5-inch screen. During my initial tests, the sensor isn’t as fast as the ones in other brands like OPPO and Samsung.

Its 5-megapixel camera is placed almost an inch on the right side of its home button. it’s pretty unconventional for Doogee placing it at the bottom of the device. Its earpiece, moreover, is located a little over the screen.

Mix espouses a hybrid sim slot, which can house 2 nano sims or 1 nano sim + micro SD card. The tray is at the left side bezel of the phone. It has mono speakers, which located at the right side of the Micro USB port. The sound coming from it tunnels to the other set of holes.

The smartphone has dual cameras, which feature a 16megapixel RGB + Bokeh lens and an 8-megapixel powered by Samsung ISOCELL sensor. We will post sample photos on our website on our full review and on our Facebook page. Stay tuned.

Performance

Using the phone is snappy. Swiping from window to window, and multitasking feel very fluid on Doogee Mix. As one of the most affordable Helio P25-powered smartphone available locally, Doogee Mix offers a competitive edge in the market. Its 6GB RAM is adequate enough to make the phone run multiple concurrent applications.

It already runs on Android Nougat out of the box, so you’re assured that all the software enhancements are present on Doogee Mix. Doogee’s custom OS runs on top of stock Android adds a few features to the smartphone. Pre-installed features like Float Gesture, One Hand Floatview, Smart Somatosensory, Gesture Motion, Gesture Unlock and a lot more are available on the phone. Amazing features, but there’s a high chance that users won’t be able to use all of it. Fortunately, these extra features may be turned off via Settings menu.
