Earlier today, global tech giant OPPO, launched the OPPO F1 Plus at Shangri La The Fort, Taguig. Touted as the “bigger. better Selfie Expert”, the camera-centric smartphone may now be pre-ordered nationwide.

Retailing for PhP21,990, the bigger OPPO F1 promises features that does not just benefit the mobile photography and selfie-liking buyers, but also those who are hungry for media consumption.

#SelfieExpert

OPPO F1 Plus is probably the only smartphone that has higher megapixels on its front-facing camera than its rear-facing camera. The F1 Plus has a 16-megapixel camera with Hi-Light technology that allows you to take clear and vivid selfies in any lighting condition. This means that it’s capable to suck in enough light to product great looking selfies in low-light, back-lit and at night with four times less noise.

According to Marton Barzca, OPPO’s product expert, the OPPO F1 Plus’ unique sensor and wife f/2.0 aperture lens allow it to produce bright and clear selfies “no matter the time of the day”. And as we earlier pointed out, Barzca confirmed that F1 Plus has the highest front camera resolution on the market.

While some of the selfie features they highlighted – like Selfie Panorama and Beautify 4.0 – may also be found on other smartphones with wide aperture lens (like the LG G5 and LG V10), OPPO F1 Plus is definitely a more affordable alternative.

Asia’s Popstar, Sarah Geronimo, graced the event and also shared her thoughts of the smartphone’s camera. She said that consumers can “get the perfect shot on the first snap [of camera], anywhere and anytime.” “I’m sure everyone will look good in a every ‘groupie’ because of the F1 Plus’ easy-to-use Selfie Panorama,” she added.

Striking Design, Focus on Comfortability

I got the chance to use the device for quite some time at the demo area, and I must say that it’s very comfortable to hold. While it’s obvious that some of the design implementation on the F1 Plus reminds us of the iPhone 6s, the OPPO F1 Plus definitely has lots of better things up its non-slipperu metal surface.

And oh, before I forget, OPPO F1 Plus has an ultra-thin bezels, which measures for 1.6mm only. This enables its 5.5-inch AMOLED display (Gorilla Glass 4) fit in a smaller frame compared to its counterparts. This is a terrain, which OPPO has been excelling in the past years. Remember the OPPO R7?

Power, On All Fronts

OPPO F1 Plus excels in many aspects, and 2 items related to ‘power’ in different interpretations make the phone standout among its competitors. For starters, the device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor with 4GB RAM. I haven’t tried a device with Helio P10 installed, but here’s what we got from WCCFTECH about how the processor performs:

[su_quote cite=”WCCFTech”]Helio P10, which is also known as MT6755 features an octa-core Cortex-A53 running at a speed of 2.0GHz. Additionally, it also features ARM Mali-T860 GPU, which will smoothen out the gameplay when the end-users are engaged in playing taxing gaming applications. Now, coming to the actual benchmarks, Helio P10 is able to perform much better than MT6752, which was expected given that the latter is running an octa-core Cortex-A53 at 1.7GHz.[/su_quote]

On the other hand, it was later revealed during the launch that the OPPO F1 Plus is the first in the F-series that has VOOC Flash Charge feature. This features allows users to charge the phone from 0 to 75 perfect for only 30 minutes. Barcza even impressed the audience when he said, “‘Charge for five minutes, talk for two hours’ became an iconic slogan for OPPO in China last year. It convinced more than 18 million users so far to say goodbye to dead batteries.”

Color Me Surprised

The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the all-new ColorOS 3.0 sitting on top of it. OPPO introduced several changes in terms of optimization and design. Overall system speed is now 25 percent faster compared to Color OS 2.1, and user experience has been upgraded further.

With the availability of Touch Access technology on F1 Plus, it is now faster and easier to unlock the device. In fact, OPPO claims that it’s possible to unlock the device in just .2 seconds.
