Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update Out Now, Adds Dual Wielding and Console Mods

The Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Mac, with the Nintendo Switch 2 release set to arrive in the days that follow.

CD PROJEKT RED shipped the free update alongside the premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix, the ten episode anime series the studio produced with Japanese animation house TRIGGER.

The Edgerunners 2 Update draws its new content from that series, so the additions connect to the anime rather than to a separate paid expansion for the open world role playing game.

Night City has been the setting for Cyberpunk 2077 since its launch, and the free updates since then have gradually folded the animated side of the franchise back into the game itself.

That pattern continues here, with the second anime season serving as the source for a quest line, a set of cosmetic items and a combat option that changes how the player fights.

Edgerunners 2 Update adds a quest drawn from the anime

The centrepiece is a new quest that takes place before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and it brings characters from the anime into Night City as part of its story.

Finishing that thread hands the player a gear set modelled on Weak Kingsley, one of the main characters of the show, so the anime cast turns up in the wardrobe as well.

A new radio station joins the soundtrack with tracks drawn from both Edgerunners and its sequel, which gives the anime score a home while driving between districts.

The station looks like a small addition on paper, but music has been among the most recognisable parts of the franchise, and the sequel arrives with its own score to sample.

Glamdocs sell 40 cosmetic cyberware designs

Five new vendors known as glamdocs now sell cyberware cosmetics, and the stock covers 40 designs across finishes, colors and styles that cannot be bought anywhere else in the city.

The pieces are cosmetic only, so they change the look of V rather than the statistics, which keeps the chrome options separate from the build crafting side of the game.

Each purchase opens further adjustments, and players can fine tune colors on the pieces they buy until the implants match an outfit instead of clashing with it.

Dual wielding brings two pistols into the build

Dual wielding arrives as a completely new playstyle, and it lets V carry two pistols or two revolvers at the same time instead of switching between gun types.

CD PROJEKT RED built dedicated perks and abilities for the option, so the second hand is supported by the skill tree rather than being a display trick with no follow through.

For a game that built much of its reputation on gunplay, the change gives pistol users a reason to revisit old builds and rebuild around the new perks.

Cross-platform mods open through mod.io

Mod support expands through an integration with mod.io, which brings community made content to PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 through one shared route.

An in game mod panel handles discovery and downloads, so players can browse the available mods and install them without leaving the game or editing files by hand.

Opening that door on consoles is the more significant half of the change, since console players have largely been locked out of the scene that kept the PC version busy for years.

Availability and merchandise

The update is free for everyone who already owns Cyberpunk 2077, so there is no separate purchase to make before playing the new content on the current generation consoles.

The release also arrives with merchandise tied to the anime, including metal prints from Displate, a motorcycle jacket from Rebelhorn and a desk setup collection from Corsair.

Those items ship from the respective partner stores, and the press materials point buyers to each brand for pricing and availability instead of listing local figures.

For players in the Philippines, the update downloads through the platform storefront they already use, which means the patch is the only step needed to reach the new content.

Switch 2 owners have a short wait ahead, since that version trails the PC, Mac and console releases by a few days according to CD PROJEKT RED.

Night City has also appeared on Gadget Pilipinas before, including the HiBy Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration that brought the franchise to desktop audio gear last month.

The official patch notes carry the full list of additions, and they lay out the quest structure, the vendor locations and the perk changes attached to the new combat option.
