Jackery Philippines has donated portable power stations and solar panels to the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Malapatan and Glan in Sarangani following the recent earthquake that struck off Mindanao.
The donation came after the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) issued an urgent call for emergency assistance. As the country’s primary private-sector coordinator for disaster risk reduction and management, the PDRF sought support for communities dealing with the effects of the disaster.
Emergency Power for Rescue Operations
The donated equipment was received by key officials from both municipalities at the Malapatan Incident Command Post. These officials led the Incident Command Systems during the Magnitude 7.8 earthquake and Typhoon Inday.
The portable power stations and solar panels are intended to support immediate rescue and recovery operations while also strengthening the LGUs’ future emergency preparedness. The equipment can be deployed at emergency operations centers, makeshift medical stations, and community charging hubs.
“Having power is very important for our rescue team so we can stay connected, especially during emergencies, so we are very thankful to Jackery and PDRF for this big donation. This will really help our team serve the people of Malapatan, Sarangani better.”
– Mark Christopher Quiño, Incident Commander, LGU of Malapatan, Sarangani
Supporting Sustainable Disaster Response
Disasters can severely disrupt local infrastructure, with power lines often among the first services to fail. Extended outages make it harder for responders to coordinate teams, maintain communication channels, and support affected residents.
Jackery’s portable, plug-and-play systems offer an alternative to conventional gas-powered generators. They can help reduce dependence on fuel supplies and avoid some of the logistical challenges associated with transporting and operating traditional generators during emergency situations.
“At the heart of Jackery is a simple promise: to champion a ‘Life Uninterrupted’ for Filipinos. When the PDRF reached out about the situation in Sarangani, there was no hesitation from our end. With this donation, we wanted to ensure the community has the dependable power they need while rescue and recovery efforts are underway. This is our way of standing with the nation, ensuring that no community is left to rebuild in the dark.”
– Igue Bonifacio, Marketing and Emerging Businesses Head of Cognetics Inc.
The partnership highlights how sustainable power solutions can contribute to humanitarian aid. An initiative of helping communities remain operational during prolonged grid outages contributes to a safer and more self-reliant approach to disaster preparedness.
