Samsung has debuted One UI 9.0 for Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. With One UI 9.0 out, officially, naturally the next question is what its features are and what devices will receive it.
One UI 9.0
One UI 9.0 follows the One UI release schedule, releasing around the same time as One UI 8.0. This includes the beta program announced in May and the stable rollout, expected to begin in September.
One UI 9.0 focuses heavily on advanced Galaxy AI integration, a redesigned Quick Panel, and a more productive experience for foldable users.
Galaxy AI
- Now Nudge – an assistant that monitors on-screen actions based on context and gives helpful prompts
- My FanCam – a New AI Feature that lets users turn a wide shot into a subject-tracking clip in the Gallery
- Voice Photo Assist – lets users describe image edits aloud, and AI handles the rest
- Samsung Internet – an integrated “Ask AI” side panel on the browser powered by Perplexity AI
- Now Brief – more personal and helpful by building a briefing card based on your personal interests
Visual and Interface Changes
- Revamped Quick Panel – ticker slides for brightness and volume, resizable media player
- Optimized Wallpaper Layouts – automatically repositions lock screen wallpaper subjects to not overlap with widgets, and uses generative AI to fill empty spaces naturally
- Condensed Navigation – text descriptions are replaced with clean titles and swaps the bottom bars for floating pill-shaped bars
Enhanced Productivity
- Three-App Split Screen – expands multi-window capabilities to support running three apps side by side seamlessly
- Samsung Notes – brings new pen styles and a decorative tape tool to conceal text or straighten handwritten lines
- Overlay Game Booster – tweaks hardware settings without minimizing the game
Security and Privacy
- AI Assistant Activity – gives users a clear view of every app action AI assistants have taken on their behalf
- Browser Protection – alerts users when they’ve accessed a malicious website through Samsung Browser
- Advanced Auto Blocker – blocks high-risk apps and lets users review data regarding blocked background installations
