Anbernic has officially launched the RG Rotate. Moving away from standard slab designs, the new handheld features a swivel mechanism that lets its screen flip 90 degrees, revealing a full suite of gaming controls.

The device centers on a 3.5-inch square IPS touchscreen with a 720 x 720 resolution. This 1:1 aspect ratio is designed for retro titles from the Game Boy era and vertical arcade shooters. When closed, the RG Rotate functions as a compact Android 12 media player, which Anbernic suggests can serve as a dedicated MP3 player.

In addition, the handheld features a Unisoc Tiger T618 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. While it lacks analog sticks, it includes a D-pad, four face buttons, and interchangeable shoulder buttons. The hardware can emulate consoles up to the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 1, with limited support for GameCube and PS2 titles.
The RG Rotate is available in two colorways: a “Polar Black” version featuring a metal front plate and plastic back for USD 87.99, and a premium “Aurora Silver” model crafted entirely from CNC aluminum for USD 107.99. Both are powered by a 2,000 mAh battery that promises five hours of gameplay per charge.
