After Apple recently implemented a price increase on several of its MacBook and iPad models, it seems like the memory and storage shortage is affecting other brands.

The latest of these is POCO, as spotted by our friends from GizGuide and Unbox, as well as Filipino redditors on r/Tech_Philippines, with several phones going for more than when they were initially introduced.

POCO – Price Hike

Among the POCO devices that were spotted with higher prices are the F8 Pro and F8 Ultra, X8 Pro Max, and Pad X1.

The F8 Pro was introduced last year, and the two variants were priced initially at 12GB+256GB – PHP 29,999 and 12GB+512GB – PHP 31,999. These are now priced on Lazada at PHP 39,999 and PHP 42,999, respectively.

Meanwhile, the F8 Ultra, which debuted alongside the F8 Pro, debuted at PHP 40,999 for 12GB+256GB and PHP 42,999 for 16GB+512GB. It is now listed at PHP 51,999 and PHP 52,999, respectively. From a great flagship killer, but for a PHP 10,000 price increase, it could make or break it for other people.

Other devices with a price hike include:

  • X8 Pro Max (8GB+256GB) – PHP 25,999 from PHP 18,999
  • X8 Pro Max (8GB+512GB) – PHP 29,999 from PHP 19,999
  • X8 Pro Max (12GB+512GB) – PHP 31,999 from PHP 21,999
  • Pad X1 (8GB+512GB) – PHP 32,499 from PHP 24,999

IDC reported late last year that the global memory shortage could persist until 2027. The shortage is attributed to the AI infrastructure boom.
