Launched just recently, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro is a flagship-level tablet aimed at users who want a powerful entertainment and productivity slate without jumping to ultra‑premium price tiers. With a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 3.2K 144Hz display, and a hefty 9,200mAh battery, it clearly aims to be your primary media and gaming device rather than just a casual digital companion.
Xiaomi has made some deliberate trade-offs including the absence of a headphone jack and expandable storage, which may be deal breakers for some, and keep it from being an excellent all-rounder. Still, taken as a whole, it offers a compelling value for those who prioritize performance, visual smoothness, and long battery life over absolute feature completeness.
Design and Build Quality

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro measures just 5.75mm and weighs 485g. Despite the thin profile, it manages to pack in a 9,200mAh battery, which is impressive from an engineering standpoint and also helps the device feel substantial but not unwieldy.

Its all‑metal body gives it a premium look and feel, though the back panel tends to attract smudges easily.

If you use the official keyboard cover, the issue is largely irrelevant, but without one, the tablet may need regular wiping if you want to maintain a clean aesthetic.
Performance

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, a flagship processor first released in 2024 that still offers more than enough power for demanding modern workloads. While 8GB of RAM may look underwhelming for a flagship, you do get 256GB of storage, which is pretty standard. General day-to-day performance has been excellent, at least for my use case.

In gaming, titles like Honor of Kings, Call of Duty Mobile, and Honkai: Star Rail run flawlessly at their highest presets. The more recent and demanding Arknights: Endfield also performs just as well at its highest setting, though the experience seems less smooth when render scale is pushed to “very high,” suggesting that users chasing maximum visual fidelity might need to dial things back slightly.

For connectivity, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro has Wi‑Fi 7 support for those with compatible routers and fast internet, along with USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfer speeds.

As for thermal behavior, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro failed to finish 3DMark’s Wildlife Extreme Stress Test, triggering an overheating warning mid‑run, which indicates that sustained peak performance under synthetic loads is not its strong suit. Take note though that this only happened with a benchmark, and I didn’t encounter any thermal issues while playing games.
Camera

Tablet cameras often feel like afterthoughts, but the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro stands out as an exception in this category. Its 50MP rear camera captures decent photos in good lighting, with solid detail and sharpness and a quick shutter that makes casual shooting painless.

A 32MP selfie camera delivers detailed shots with good texture, making it suitable for video calls and social media use. It offers respectable video capabilities, with the rear camera capable of up to 4K at 60fps and the front camera topping out at 1080p 30fps, which is more than adequate for conferencing and casual content creation.
Audio and Multimedia

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro features quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a claimed 200% volume boost mode when extra loudness is needed. In practice, the speakers are more than loud enough for personal use, with no audible distortion at high volumes, good clarity, airy treble that doesn’t sound harsh, and a decent low‑end presence that makes movies and games more engaging.

The 11.2‑inch IPS LCD display offers a sharp 3.2K resolution and a fast 144Hz refresh rate. While it cannot match the deep blacks and ultra‑punchy colors of OLED panels, colors still look lively, and the jump from 120Hz to 144Hz is subtle enough that only keen eyes will consistently notice the difference in daily use.

All of these make the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro excellent for everyday tasks, media consumption, and gaming, which is clearly its primary focus. The only clear multimedia downside is the lack of a headphone jack, which forces users into the world of USB‑C or wireless audio whether they like it or not.
Software

Out of the box, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, giving it a modern software foundation with Xiaomi’s own feature set layered on top. The homescreen, though preloaded with a few Xiaomi apps, remains relatively clean and avoids the cluttered “mega-folder” approach that plagues some Android skins, while animations appear refined and visually consistent.

For productivity, it comes with the WPS Office pre‑installed, covering word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations without immediate extra downloads.

Multitasking is supported via Floating Windows and split‑screen mode, letting you take advantage of the large display by running multiple apps in small windows that can be repositioned and resized.

Xiaomi also leans into AI with features like AI Translate, AI Search, AI Speech Recognition, AI Subtitles, and AI Writing. These can meaningfully enhance workflows such as content consumption, note‑taking, and light productivity tasks, though usefulness will depend on how much you integrate them into your daily habits.
Battery and Charging

Battery life is one of the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro’s strongest traits, thanks to its 9,200mAh cell. In a usage pattern that includes Spotify streaming, YouTube, local video playback, and occasional gaming, the tablet comfortably lasts at least two days before needing a recharge, which makes it a reliable travel and couch companion.
Using the bundled 67W charger, the battery was topped up from around 10% to full in just over an hour. This blend of endurance and fast top‑ups means you can spend more time using the tablet and less time tethered to a wall socket, which is particularly valuable for a device designed for both entertainment and productivity.
Verdict
Despite the downsides, it’s still a good overall package.
- Premium build quality
- Good gaming performance
- Good battery life
- Quick to recharge
- Good quality display
- Surprisingly decent cameras
- 8GB of RAM feel underwhelming for a flagship-level device
- No expandable storage
- On the pricey side
Priced at PHP 38,999, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro arrives in the Philippines in a premium‑midrange sweet spot where expectations are high but absolute perfection is not required. For the price, you’re getting a tablet with a flagship‑grade processor, an excellent high‑resolution 144Hz LCD, strong speakers, and outstanding battery life, all wrapped in a sleek metal chassis.
On the flip side, there’s the absence of a headphone jack and expandable storage, 8GB of RAM, and evident thermal limitations under extreme synthetic load. However, in real‑world use including media consumption, gaming, multitasking, and light productivity, the tablet performs confidently and consistently, making it an easy recommendation for users who value performance, display, and battery life above all.
If you can live within the 256GB storage ceiling and rely on wireless or USB‑C audio, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro is a powerful, well‑rounded Android tablet that justifies its asking price. It is not without downsides, but for its target audience, it hits far more than it misses and feels like a thoughtfully balanced package rather than a spec sheet showpiece.
