OpenAI has announced that the Deep research feature of ChatGPT is powered by GPT-5.2, the model unveiled last year. The update improves your control over research workflows and how results are generated, visualized, and reviewed.
ChatGPT Deep Research – GPT-5.2

With GPT-5.2 integration for the agentic Deep Research feature, users can now:
- Connect supported apps within ChatGPT and search specific websites
- Restrict research to selected domains or defined time ranges
- Apply filters and comparison parameters
- Track research progress in real time
- Interrupt an active session to add follow-ups or new sources
- Generate structured outputs like reports or tables
- Include charts and visual data summaries
- View results in full-screen report mode
Additionally, the agentic feature can now produce integrated reports that combine analysis and documentation. These reports can include key findings and summarized insights, visual comparisons of data and trend charts, and source citations for verification, to name a few.

These reports will then stay embedded in the chat workflow.
The new GPT-5.2-powered ChatGPT Deep research update is rolling out starting today.
