Performance

The latest version builds on the Parallel Animation of ColorOS 15, but it introduces Seamless Animation. This allows interactions to feel instantaneous across the software.

The smoothness is thanks to new technologies – the Luminous Rendering Engine, the Trinity Engine, the Tide Engine, and the Aurora Engine. These deliver:

  • Luminous Rendering Engine – takes control of all visual components
  • Trinity Engine – addresses the needs of heavy-load scenarios like intensive gaming and multitasking
  • Aurora Engine – enhances system-wide fluidity and interface continuity
  • Tide Engine – chip-level dynamic frame tracking system

These are said to offer 16% faster boot times, 28% better app launch smoothness, and 16% faster system scrolling.

AI Enhancements

ColorOS 16 also introduces AI One-Tap Flash Note that can instantly capture things like documents, images, dining codes, bills, videos, voice-based notes, and more.

Moreover, it has AI productivity tools like AI Recording, AI Writing, AI Notes, and AI Calendar.

The new version also comes with Xiaobu AI engine with features AI Briefing, Xiaobu Suggestions, AI Real-Scene Dialogue, and photo and editing tools.

Photo and Video Editing

Speaking of AI and video editing, it adds AI Portrait Glow, which improves portraits taken in poor lighting by optimizing skin tones. This joins OPPO’s current suite of AI editing tools like AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover.
