Apple‘s highly anticipated entry into the foldable smartphone market could come with a hefty price tag, potentially exceeding USD 2,300. This estimate, shared by Analyst Tim Long in a research note with Barclays, would make it the most expensive iPhone ever, dwarfing the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s starting price of USD 1,199.

Apple Foldable Comes with a Hefty Price Tag

The potential price point comes from discussions with hardware manufacturers in Asia, where there’s increasing chatter about a foldable iPhone launching between late 2026 and early 2027. However, the high cost could limit sales volume. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also predicted a price range of USD 2,000 to 2,500 for the device.

Kuo suggests the foldable iPhone will feature a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer display, two rear cameras, one front camera, a Touch ID power button, and a high-density battery. It could be as thin as 4.5mm when folded and between 9-9.5mm when unfolded.

If these estimates hold, Apple’s foldable iPhone would be priced similarly to the original Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, which launched at USD 1,980 in 2019. While Samsung has since refined its foldable technology, Apple must deliver a compelling device to justify the premium price.
