Apple has released the iOS 27.0.1 update, a maintenance build that carries a short list of fixes for the iPhone rather than a set of new features.
The note that accompanied the release covers three specific problems, and two of them are limited to the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

What the iOS 27.0.1 update repairs
The first item addresses an unexpected restart. On the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the handset may restart on its own when Face ID fails to authenticate, which turns a missed unlock into a full reboot.
The second item is a camera defect that shows up in a narrow set of conditions.

A color artifact may appear on photos captured at 2x under certain lighting conditions at f/1.48, and Apple describes the fault as affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices.
The third item sits outside the camera and the lock screen altogether, and it reaches beyond the two Pro models.
Opening Notification Center and Control Center simultaneously may cause the touchscreen to become unresponsive, which leaves the display unable to register input until the handset recovers.
The update text lists those three items in plain language and offers no workaround, so the install itself is the only route to the repair.
Why the restart fault carries the most weight
Of the three, the restart fault is the one that interrupts a security check rather than a convenience feature.
Face ID failing to authenticate is a routine event that follows a wet finger, an odd angle, or a glance at the phone from too far away, and the expected response is a prompt for the passcode.
A forced restart in the middle of that exchange is disruptive on any handset, and more so on a device that a buyer picked up within the past two weeks.
A restart also interrupts whatever the user was doing, and the phone returns to the lock screen with the active app closed out, so an unfinished camera session or a half-written message can be lost.
Taken together, the three entries describe symptoms that a user would notice immediately rather than quiet defects that surface only in logs.
A camera artifact at 2x and f/1.48
The camera note is the most technical of the three, and the aperture figure explains why the fault stayed narrow.
The Main camera on the iPhone 18 Pro line uses a variable aperture, a first for the company, and f/1.48 sits at the wide end of that range.
A photo taken at 2x zoom with the lens opened that far gathers a great deal of light, and the artifact Apple describes appears as a color shift under certain lighting rather than in every frame.
Apple does not say how many units are affected beyond describing the number as small, and the repair arrives through the same build that carries the other two fixes.
How the iOS 27.0.1 update arrives
The build is a free download for the iPhone, and it follows the wider iOS 27 release that Apple began rolling out in September.
That release introduced Siri AI and the next generation of Apple Intelligence, and it set the software baseline that this maintenance build now corrects.
Installation runs through Settings, under General and then Software Update, and the handset asks for a restart once the download completes.
The note does not say whether buyers can check in advance if their handset falls among the affected units, so the practical answer for an owner is the install itself.
What the build does not change
Nothing in the note points to new features, a performance pass, or a change to battery behavior, so the update reads as a targeted repair rather than a step forward for the platform.
The iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max arrived in September with a 48MP Fusion Main camera, the variable aperture, and four finishes.
The launch positioned the pair around camera control, battery life, and the A20 Pro chip, and the earlier story on the pre-order details covers the local pricing and availability picture.
Apple’s own summary of the wider software release sets out what arrived with iOS 27, and the iOS 27.0.1 update sits on top of that foundation without adding to it.
Apple sells the iPhone 18 Pro line through its Philippine channels and authorized resellers, and the update reaches those units over the air regardless of where the handset was bought.
For now, the three repairs on the list are the whole of what this build delivers, and the iOS 27.0.1 update is available now as a free download.
